Armistice Day Auto Race In Deming For Stock Cars

Armistice Day events in Deming include a stock car road race Friday November 11 with a $200 purse. Cars will run Deming to Cambray and back, aiming for just over an hour. At least six entrants paying $20 each are required. excess fees join the purse. Entries to Herman Lindauer or S C Skidmore.

Humoresque To Open Broadway Theatre Run In Deming

Deming movie fans secured Humoresque for the Broadway Theatre opening as a two day run on November 5 and 6. W. W. Wilcox says it is one of the year’s best pictures and plans more big releases from top companies next quarter. He notes substantial investment and renovations completed, with a new screen due next week.

Ferguson wedding unites Camp Cody trio in California vows

R O Ferguson, superintendent of Camp Cody hospital buildings, returned from California with his bride, Miss Sarah L Masterson, whom he wed in San Diego on October 19. The couple’s homecoming followed a ceremony reported with social circle notes from the Presbyterian church gathering.

Rural School Exhibit Planned During Rodeo Week

Luna county rural schools will stage a special exhibit during Rodeo Week under the plan of Mya Joe Willa Beil county superintendent of schools, with collaboration from rural teachers. Arrangements enable use of the Tracy building store next to Fields for the display. Pupils devote daily time to prepare the exhibit and all work must be turned over by Saturday November 6 for placement.

El Paso Plans to Send Delegates to Rodeo

The El Paso Chamber of Commerce will send a delegation to the three day rodeo set for November 10 to 12. De Witt A. Bandeen announced the plan while S. A. Lindauer, in El Paso, promoted the event. Will LaPoint of the Las Cruces Citizen is coordinating Las Cruces attendees.

Local boys on University of Arizona football team

The University of Arizona football squad passed through Deming last Friday to face Texas College Station, then returned to Tuccgan on Monday. Two former Deming High stars, Marvin Clark and Byrd Witten, were on the roster and greeted friends at the Deming station.

El Paso Eyes Hydro Electric Plant at Elephant Butte Dam

A El Paso chamber of commerce committee studies a hydro electric plan to supply El Paso and nearby areas within about 400 miles. Vernon L. Sullivan reports large power users would include New Mexico and Arizona mines. Committee includes Bassett Marr McNary Schwartz Binford. Further feasibility work to determine viable methods and costs.

Cummins backs reimburse for Deming land leases

Surgeon General H S Cummins told A W Mollard of the Deming Chamber that Deming is due return of funds spent on land leases for Camp Cody since the armistice. He urged congressional action to reimburse several thousand dollars, offering to aid the bill once introduced. Pollard has contacted Senator Holm O Bursum to pursue the suggested course.

D A R Reunion Trip For Doak Family

Mrs L A Doak and daughter Miss Winifred Dosh plan to attend the D A R reunion in Chattanoopa and will visit relatives. They will also meet Miss Annie Doak who finished a college course in El Paso and stop in Houston to see Rose Doak a special nurse in the U S public health service. Mrs Bird tends to Mr Donk in their absence.

Deming Rodeo Set for November 10 to 12 at Court House Park

A three day rodeo festival in Deming plans a record crowd with top riders ropers and western sports specialists. Fort Bayard commandant and Armistice Day parade units will participate alongside delegations from El Paso and Las Cruces. The program features cow pony races branding events boxing match and a grand barbecue with Luna County cowmen supplying steers. Entries close November 4 with prizes up to 200 dollars and 50 dollars in various events.

Deming High Fights but Falls to El Paso Elever

Deming High lost to El Paso High School eleven last Saturday by 14 to 0. El Paso scored in the first two quarters but could not extend the margin as Deming defense held firm near the goal line. Coach Trine praised the Deming players for their fight and sportsmanlike conduct despite being outweighed in most positions.

Doolittle Will Be Buried Today in New Mexico

Marshall Doolittle longtime southern New Mexico cattleman died at Mimbres Hot Springs from Brights disease at 53. He managed Boone ranch and later ran it solo after Fassett exit.
