B L Walker has leased the building and restaurant fixtures adjoining the Commercial hotel on Silver Avenue and will remodel them for a first class eating house. The new place will be named the Modern Cafe and will be the citys only purely American cafe.

Entertains In Honor Of Mrs Gibbs

Mrs Gibbs, visiting from El Paso, was honored with two Monday and Tuesday gatherings hosted by H. G. Bush. Guests crafted clothed pins with material, needle, and thread, then dressed the pins. A hankerchief prize went to the most artistic entry, followed by luncheon. Mrs Gibbs departed for El Paso on Wednesday.

Accompanies Husband To Hospital at Clovis

Mrs. P. R. Steele was called to Wintewater Saturday to be with her husband injured in a Banta Fe freight wreck last week. She accompanied him to the hospital at Clovia for treatment until he can return home. He suffered four broken ribs, a fractured leg, and serious head injury with possible internal damage.

Lumber Company in New Home Under Heavy Improvements

The Albaon-Hines Lumber Company, now Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber, at Copper and Cedar is undergoing major upgrades. Manager Bush leads cement walks, concrete crossings, and driveways while the yard is enclosed and repainted. New offices, stock room, dust pent room, lime and plaster stock building, and covered stock storage are added. The Deming yarns stock will move here, boosting the company’s equipment to southwestern standards.

Oil expert optimistic on Arizona future after Bowie visit

N A Hickok, a 20 year oil veteran active in California and Arizona, came from Bowie Tuesday to inspect local conditions. He reported the U S Oil Co drilling near Bowie is back to work after engine trouble and expressed strong optimism for Arizona’s oil prospects and new developments.

Pythian Knights Banquet At Pine Street Hall

A social session of the K. of P lodge No. 20 was held at their Pine street hall last Tuesday evening. A large gathering of members and guests enjoyed flag ceremonies, an address by John M. Rose, and a recitation by Miss McKinny. Afterward, attendees were seated for a banquet with ample edibles and friendly socializing.

The Freshman class hosted a masquerade party at the Armory on Saturday night with guests masked and many in unique costumes. 1920 Auto Licenses Cost Five Cents Per Cent More
