New Peoples Party Emerges in Georgetown Area
Residents of Georgetown Grant County form a new political movement rejecting both old parties. A May 26 meeting in the town hall authorized county precinct branches and a Deming outreach as part of a third party effort with a committee led by Malcolm Methregar and others to organize and report progress by the next meeting.

Death of Williag Rephart Aged Deming Pioneer
Williag Rephart father of Mrs Israel King died at home Monday evening about 8:30 after a long decline from old age and paralysis. Born in Ohio he joined the Presbyterian church mission at Santa Beaga in 1852 and served as chaplain in the 10th Iowa Volunteers. Surviving are four children and a sister in Ohio. services and burial plans are noted for Athene, Iowa as the region mourns a Christian gentleman.

German Colonists Seek Southwest Home for Farming Venture
Jaysannd Klein arrived in Deming to study resources and conditions for bringing about 150 Germans and families to farm in the southwest. He requires over 1,000 acres if recommended. Fourth of July plans in Deming include a street procession, barbecue, races, and a minstrel show. Cattle shipments from Deming consignments to Kansas pasture exceeded 400 head each, with additional Buckeye stock to be shipped early next month. The Gila range is reported poor while the Mexican border area remains favorable. Special report from New York City notes land prices at 20,000 dollars per acre level.
