Woodrow Wilson Inaugurated President of United States

President Woodrow Wilson of New Jersey was inaugurated with Vice President Thomas Marshall of Indiana. The ceremony under the Capitol drew a large crowd as Wilson pledged an honest patriotic administration with his cabinet chosen, including Bryan as secretary of state and McAdoo as treasury.

Prohibition Rally in Deming Urges Statewide Vote

In a mass meeting of about four hundred Deming citizens Rev. Sam W. Small urged statewide prohibition. Resolutions were passed to submit the issue to voters in November 1914 and telegrams sent to Senator Laughren at Santa Fe and the Santa Fe New Mexican. The event followed Small’s sermon “His Majesty the Devil” and closed his Deming campaign.

Postage Change Enables Collect on Delivery Parcel Service

New parcel post rules take effect July 1 allowing collect on delivery. Postmaster General Hitchcock signs the measure authorizing parcels sent nationally with COD charges collected by the sender. COD increases over 100 dollars incur a 10 cent fee, and insurance limits uplift to 1350.

St Luke's Church March Lent Services Schedule

St Luke's Church lists services for March including Holy Communion at 8 am, Morning Prayer and sermon at 11 am, Evening Prayer and sermon at 7 30 pm, and Sunday school at 10 am on the Fifth Sunday in Lent. Additional services occur March 11 4 30 pm March 12 10 am Holy Communion and March 14 8 pm Evening Prayer and address.

Albuquerque Actor Burned In Powder Keg Explosion

Sam Tracy known as Slim was severely burned in an explosion while a moving picture crew filmed a battery blowing scene. He carried a keg of powder when it ruptured and ignited, but the flames were soon suppressed and he is reported on the road to recovery.

Road Board Hears Petition For New County Road

Fool and a Gun Ends in Wounding at Restaurant

Luther Salisbury known as Casey Jones left his gun with unloading precautions after work. Julian Gawry, a Harvey House bell hop, retrieved the weapon and shot E. J. Otley through a restaurant partition wounding him. Otley treated by Drs. Swope and Steed. Gawry is held for the incident.

Sisco visits Headlight. booster editor linked to papers

Ben Sisco called at the Headlight office on Monday to ask about the paper. He edited the booster edition of the Deming Graphic last year and has since worked with the Albuquerque Journal. Mrs Sisco is visiting friends while Ben tours Renae a big sale at Lester ert's.
