Train collision injures freight engineer near Deming depot
Tuesday morning a crash east of the Deming depot left freight engineer Bob Wead mansee with multiple broken ribs and serious injuries. A Southern Pacific freight engine struck passenger engine No. 8. both locomotives badly damaged. A board of inquiry found no track or equipment fault and blamed engine 1727 crew on train No. 414. Members include W C Peterson and others from Deming New York Kansas City and San Antonio observers noted prospectors touring the valley.

Deming stock yards handled a 3 000 head cattle shipment from G O S ranch representatives J B Gilquist B M Holtry and R F Hern don to Metzle Bros of Canada at 27 to 35 dollars per head. Through three to four months total shipped from Deming and Silver City reached 39 000 cattle worth about 1 006 000 dollars as range grass improves and calves show strong gains.
