Welcome Home Party Honors Luna County Soldiers
Soldiers and sailors were guests at the Deming armory last Friday for a homecoming reception and dance. The crowd included locals from Luna County and five outside cities as Mayor Hamilton and ex-service man F M Johnson spoke on war aims and conditions. The event showcased tableaux, school dances, and performances by the 9th Engineers, ending with late-night dancing and community singing.

Deming to Receive Captured Hun Gun Under House Bill
A bill by Congressman Hen G Hernamlez would authorize the secretary of war to donate one artillery piece captured by the American army to several New Mexico cities including Albuquerque Las Cruces Las Vegas Socorro Roswell Silver City Santa Fe Tierra Amarilla Raytan Wagon Mound Lane Clovis Deming Los Lunas Aztec Gallup Clayton and Santa Rosa. Passage of Suffrage Now Up to States

DMIRTY-PIVE TRUCKS FOR LUNA COUNTY
D Lt Peters, Lone County highway superintendent, has been notified that a delivery will shortly be issued of 35 trucks to be used on state and county highway projects in this county. These trucks are a split of the number assigned by the government to New Mexico for good work, and they will have a capacity of from one to five tons each. They have all been in use on army work since the United States entered the war, but they will be delivered in perfect running order. Fr. E. McLaren leaves today for Rhode Island after spending most of the year in New Mexico, employed with the food administration, and he also spent several months with his brother-in-law and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Trunk E. Rich, at their ranch north of town.

May employ home nurse for Deming project

Fires In North Town Hit Campuzola and Westen Premises
Two fires north of town this week caused major damage. The Campus Pool Hall building owned by Cazzola suffered heavy water damage after flames spread from the nearby Manhattan restaurant roof area. Cazzola had $3000 and $800 insured on premises and fixtures. The Westen Transfer building adjoining its wood yard also burned, destroying a shack and part of the stock and furniture, with water supply delays hampering firefighters. Noonan, owner, was away and learned of the loss on his return. he reported partial insurance.

Salvation Army seeks aid for destitute Mexican family
Captain John W. Rayner of the Salvation Army appeals for clothing, food, and furniture for a six member Mexican family burned out north of the tracks Tuesday. The mother is a widow with five children, ages 2 to 12. Only a slave was saved for neighbors. county commissioners provided groceries, but six people consume food quickly. Rayner asks for old clothes, bedding, mattresses, blankets, and any immediate help, offering to collect if notified.
