Dick Headrick of Derming Returns Home From War
Dick Headrick, a Derming native with the 1A. & FE., returned home late last week after discharge. He crossed with the Bith division to England and spent five months in a hospital. Rejoining his unit in Germany, he soon required further hospital treatment and later underwent an appendectomy at El Paso. A subsequent note corrects a mix up with a different Hendrick who was wounded in France.

Czech Slovak Veterans Pass Through Deming in Transit
About 1047 veterans of the Czech-Slovak armies, wounded or disabled, marched through Deming en route from Vladivostok to Prague. Originating in 1914 with the Austro-Hungarian forces, they later fought the Austrians, Bolsheviks, and on the Eastern Front, before reorganization in Siberia. They will tour the United States with a review by President Wilson planned in Washington.

Doral in Lemon Extract Incident Leads to Fine
Guadalupe Lens appeared in justice court charged with carrying a 25 caliber automatic pistol in Lana. Deputy J. R. Jackson testified Lens had been drinking lemon extract. Lens threatened Pete Chanson with the weapon before arrest. a spectator seized the gun. Judge C. Rogers fined Lens $50 and ordered 90 days in jail with costs.

Twelve plead guilty in Silver City court session
District Attorney J S Vaught attended a court session before Judge Raymond 2 Ryan as twelve defendants pleaded guilty for various offenses and were sentenced. Nicanor Rodriguez, 31, a jailbreaker, was captured and held for Sierra county officers.
