Filadelfo Saca Dies At El Rito Home
Filadelfo Bucs, 57, president of the Spanish American normal school at El Rito New Mexico, died at his home. A native of New Mexico and Notre Dame graduate, he served in educational work here for years and spent five years starting 1893 as secretary with the American embassy in Mexico City. He was brother of Lieutenant Governor Josep A. Baca of New Mexico.

New Mexico Cattle to Show in Denver
Two carloads of Hereford feeder calves and a breeding Hereford from New Mexico will compete at the National Western Live Stock Show in Denver January 23 to 20. The T. O. Ranch Co of Raton markets that cattle, asserting New Mexico can raise beef cattle as well as any state. The ranch spans 67,200 acres at 8,700 feet, with a registered Hereford herd and a grade herd. The purebred herd comprises 360 cows with ten leading sires in service. Poultry business in Curry county rises 300 percent over last year.

Deportation hold and jail records in Deming case
Marte Martinez de Ruiz, a Mexican woman, was brought to the Deming jail Wednesday after arrest in Columbus by an Immigration Department officer and is held for deportation. John Louis, a Black man, also arrived from Columbus and was jailed after arrest by Columbus police. Judge Cole set a $50 fine plus costs, and, unable to pay, he faces 56 days in jail. The Mesilla Valley Poultry Association shipped 1,086,433 eggs in the year ending Aug 31, 1922, with the highest price 60 cents a dozen. J M Hughes aged 65 was found dead in bed at his home 202 Booth Nickel St last Sunday morning by his nephew R H Hughes and Chief of Police Jim Kealy. Neighbors reported smoke from the chimney about 1L Saturday night. A coroner's jury ruled death from natural causes. He had been a longtime night sailor and night marshal.
