Soldiers Face Serious Charges After Abducting Gigs
Sunday afternoon Troopers Pratt and Albright of the 13th Cavalry hired a horse and buggy from a local livery barn with intent to return at midnight. They allegedly persuaded two minor girls from Deming to accompany them. Captured in Santa Rita and Hurley, they and the two girls were brought back to Deming and jailed as authorities decide whether military or civil charges apply for absence without leave, kidnapping, and larceny.

Brakeman Daniel C Darling Killed in Tank Car Accident

A Narrow Escape After Shotgun Misfire
Soldier 'Jug' Williams of Company M 13th Cavalry was driving along Gold Avenue when a shotgun in his buggy discharged. Pellets lightly wounded Dr. P. M. Steed who dressed his injuries and went home. Williams warned to keep the weapon unloaded on future trips.

Another Japanese Scare in Our Valley
San Togo, a Japanese visitor, spent two weeks observing the valley and caused a stir after his girlfriend left him for Albuquerque. He stole $75 then lost his money, watch, and glasses to bad companions. Inspector Simpson recovered the glasses and watch. the money had been spent. The Headlight suggests San Togo join the Bum Sports Club.
