Annual Meeting of Farmers' Association at Mimbres Valley

A well attended meeting of stock holders at the Mimbres Valley Farmers' Association was held at the courthouse Wednesday. E d Bornwick chaired, E l Trowbridge read reports showing last year’s gross business about 126 000 with 445 in profits. Prof J F Doderer was elected temporary chairman and Trowbridge temporary secretary. Directors named were H H Jacobs F Holiday J N Cobb M L McBride and George Abrams. Proxies for voting discussed and likely by law change to require stock owners present in person to vote.

Mrs Bumpus Hosts Suburban Club Meeting

Mrs George Bumpus entertained the Suburban club on Tuesday afternoon December 28 at her country home. About 15 members attended and a pleasant time was had. Mrs Dexter read the poem Out Where the West Begins. Members planned to work on dress forms at future meetings as taught by Mrs Von Gleck. Refreshments of cream cake and Christmas confections were served. The next meeting will be at Mrs J N Cobb's home on Tuesday afternoon January 25.

City Schools Second Semester Starts January 11

Superintendent Martin announces the second semester of city schools begins next Wednesday January 11. Parents planning to enroll children should have them start on that date. No child may be admitted who has not yet passed his fifth birthday.

Florida Oil 00 Progressing with Casing Cleared

Stockholders in the Florida Oil Company report progress in clearing casing from the Angelus well. Driller George Bumpus leads the effort as 768 inch casing and most of 10 inch casing are removed. The hole is slanting after 1900 feet, plans call for drilling on a true perpendicular line to pass lost tools. The Angelus well east of town reaches 1800 feet, cementing water out before deeper drilling with the big standard drill. Progress is watched by oil enthusiasts who expect a big showing soon.

Murray Named President at Deming National Bank

At the annual stockholders meeting of Deming National Bank W D Murray was elected president and Thomas Marshall was chosen chairman of the board. Directors elected include J G Cooper Frank L Nordhaus and W H Orcutt with C R Hughes as assistant cashier and Orcutt as cashier. The bank reports a thriving condition in its regular statement.
