City Council Hears Water Tax Talk In Extended Session

City officials gathered at the Deming City Hall for an extended Wednesday night meeting. The water department reported higher December power use and bills rising from 333.61 to 560.97. Health officer Swope filed quarterly births and deaths plus disease counts and urged a cleanup week. An extra night policeman was appointed, and an ordinance on water service and rates was introduced with liens, penalties, and maintenance charges set for various meters. The board also approved bonds for new treasurer Benny at 47 000 and depository bonds for Deming banks.
