Desert Relinquishment Owner Builds Home and Barn

Mr. Osterhaus buys a tract 13 miles south of town and plans a house and barn. He orders a 30 horsepower engine and makes other improvements. J C Hon and wife from White County Illinois visit with Esther Rhinehart. They seek dry air in New Mexico for asthma relief after damp coast air failed. They will stay in Leroy Hon’s house. Scott Weisner fell six feet in a well last Saturday and is sore but not badly hurt. The Mimbres Valley Growers and Canning Association met to arrange seed buying for this year and to collect the first 10 percent stock payments. Prompt payment is urged to fund the project. A Deming resident praised the effort, calling it faith-driven and vital for local development. The El Paso Herald claims southwest leadership, noting its generosity as a key reason for its prominence. A letter from John M. McTeer of Deming commends the Herald’s support with a $200 bequest, highlighting Deming’s civic improvement efforts.
