Report from J C Clark and Headlights describes a large oil well project. Machinery tested with strong sound and promise. Promoters plan a stock sale to finish drilling within two weeks, expecting substantial subscriptions from local citizens and business leaders.

Miss Lucile Raither and Miss Mur pat freine spent the holiday here before leaving for Long Beach Cal to resume school. They enjoyed hospitality from friends including Maud Johnson and Mrs Christ Raither at luncheon, a dinner hosted by Mr and Mrs Albert Field, and an afternoon visit at the hotel.

The Jaa annual meeting formed a new executive committee that met last Saturday at the farm bureau office to outline methods for implementing the Work plan. Members included President Hugh Ramsey and Vice President Paul J Case with L C A B Barto and Dr Jerry Bowen among others. Plans call for county level cooperative marketing efforts and community chairmen to organize meetings across Deming Luxor Hondale Capitol Dome Mountain View Tunis Silton and Waterloo with dates in early January.

She describes looting of her Columbus store and kidnapping of residents while noting the murder of U S aviators and the broader border violence.
A meeting of Luna county prospective county candidates and supporters met Friday at Judge C Rogers county chairman’s office. Democrats discussed assessment of candidates and expenses for the county primary. A mass Dem meeting was urged at the courthouse January 16 to choose a county chairman and set the primary date. The session was harmonious and expected to raise campaign interest.

The pumpkin in the Weatherred House of Bargains window drew guesses from patrons. A judging committee counted 811 seeds after the wining Wednesday evening drawing. The victor, A. W. Lloyd, guessed 822 seeds and received a bisque doll valued around $26.
A small fifteenth birthday celebration was hosted for a young girl by Mr Walter New. The afternoon event featured a cream band and a steady stream of gifts. Guests, including the children, enjoyed the hour together and the birthday girl received many pretty and useful presents.

W G Williams dies in Ranger Texas after a gunfight over alleged insult. He confronted Roberts over a dispute at a store, Williams fired first, Roberts returned fire killing Williams with a shoulder shot. Roberts and his son were killed by Williams in the ensuing exchange. Williams had been a Park hotel manager and was widely known among Southwest travelers. Local opinion framed the incident as self defense.
City closes surplus army goods operation after two weeks. Mayor Hamilton reports a small leftover surplus and the city board votes to donate the funds to local charitable groups. Selected beneficiaries include Rev Father caret on the Badt poor patives parish and the Salval THY to the Deming Benevolent Any and 360 i. the Nasurene church.
The closing of the school term for the holidays featured afternoon programs in each room with songs declamations and dialogues by scholars of different grades. Parents and friends visited in large numbers to witness progress made during the first half of the term and commendations were given to the faculty for their work.
