Jack Tidmore announces a switch to cash sales at his Silver Avenue store to reduce costs and offer lower prices. He explains credit sales hide expenses and states his slogan Pay Cash As You Go, asserting cash-only will speed sales and benefit customers and himself.
County Assessor 3, T Hunter and Jn A Rhea, chairman of the board of county commissioners, left Sunday night for Santa Peto to attend the meeting of the county assessors of the state. County Clerk P A Hughes, ill and unable to start at the first of the week, was recovering by Tuesday and able to attend start.
By order of the Intimate Committee Edw. Penni nm, Recorder, the Sir Knights of McGrarty Imandery No 4 and all sojourn are called to attention for a forthcoming meeting and duties under the Knights Templar command.
The wedding of Kirkland Cathey and Maggie Belle Onthay, both of El Panda, occurred Wednesday with Rey J B Brown of the Christian church officiating. The groom works at McMath Printing Co and the bride has taught school in Dt N30.
Westbound mail arriving late from southern California due to rains and routing edits caused congestion at Deming post office. Postmaster Foulks notes heavy both incoming and outgoing mail as Christmas rush continues. USPS urged early posting to ease workload and prevent peak delays.
Post office services announce a Monday mail delivery and aid collections from all jeter boxes and general delivery areas. Parcel service, atmospheric and registry departments will open from 11 noon. Money orders and savings departments will remain closed.
Albert Wilsey died in Lincoln last Friday after eight years in Mimbees Valley and a return from Mexico. Born November 3, 1846 in Mill Brook Kendall County Illinois, he served in Co C 147th Illinois Infantry. He settled in Nebraska in 1884 and held York and Hamilton county offices. later elected state senator. After travel to Mexico he returned, underwent two operations, and did not recover. Burial followed Monday.
Pastor H Walker of the Church presided over a Saturday marriage uniting Fort 8 AmpD and Miss Mary Minerva Swanson. The couple plans to reside in Doming.
City crews completed half a mile of new sewer extensions under city engineer C. B. Morgan, covering Granite Avenue to Slate Avenues and nearby blocks. Total pipe cost about 700 dollars with 400 more for labor. The project opens southwest town and anticipates future growth. A separate plan calls for 6000 feet of six inch cast iron water mains along Platinum and North Gold avenues, with delivery from American Cast Iron Pipe Company.
Major Victor Wales of the Cavalry division arrived by airplane from Fort Bliss to active a recruiting mission. He visited the station Monday to organize the division's recruitment efforts.

Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Maple Street Church of Christ, Nazarene and Spanish United services emphasize seasonal themes. Rev. Hampton new pastor at Spanish Methodist and St Anne’s to hold midnight mass as Christmas spirit centers on peace on earth.
The local school will close to day and will remain closed until January 2. Special exercises will be held at practically all of the schools this afternoon. Tomorrow night at the Deming armory, with special dance numbers and Christmas program. The Melody Four, Fort Bayard's new jazz orchestra will furnish the music. Everybody welcome. Tomorrow night the Hing, Deming, armory the place.
Jane Marln Lopez was arrested near Cambray on a Harrison Act charge of transporting liquor while carrying deadly weapons. A Dodge car search tied to Lopez yielded cocaine and morphine. a warrant was sworn by a federal officer and forwarded to Sheriff Smyer. Judge McNoyes set Lopez's bond at 1000.

The North Automatic baler, tested at New Mexico Implement, baled alfalfa at Rio Mimbres Irrigation Co. ranch. Over 100 tons ready upon arrival. inventor George W. Worth and observers report no missed bales. James Anthony leads ranch work. North to return early next week from El Paso.
The Truth Seekers class met Tuesday evening at Mrs. E. H. Matthews’s home at 222 South Gold Avenue. They sewed containers for the Christmas tree gifts for Sunday School children, then held a business meeting with Ruth Hon serving pro tem as secretary. Officers elected: Beatrice Smith president, Ruth Hon vice president, Mable Steed secretary, Mary Green treasurer. Three committees were named missionary, lookout, and social. Dorothy Somerville and Eunice Rogers attended, visiting from university.
Rev. Thus A Schofield rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd Silver City will hold services at St Luke's Episcopalian church on Sunday morning Christmas Day at 7 30 Mr Schofield will also celebrate Holy Communion at the church on Monday morning at 10 o'clock
The district court arraigned Tam Birtrong of Animas on a murder charge. The proceedings, led by District Attorney Forrest Fielder, occurred Wednesday in Hidalgo County with Birtrong held for a preliminary hearing.
A school program begins this day with multiple grades presenting in Denning area buildings. In the High School and Armory and several city structures pupils will showcase programs from first through sixth grades with teachers listed for each class. Clarence J. Hill, recently from Albuquerque, dies at 9.0 years old in Deming, with family from Hinton and California attending his funeral conducted by Rev. J. H. Walker.
A. A. Temke, the city clerk, marked twenty years since arriving in Deming on December 19, 1901. He described Deming as a wide open town with promising prospects and said the past two decades could not be traded for any other period of the same length.
R H Hughes reports preparations to resume mining at Hartey and Santa Rita with many former employees notified to return. The two towns show renewed activity as potential early revival of prosperity appears likely. Hughes and Leon Godehaue visited Red Mens dining camps and found members working steadily and growing. They planned to visit Verrras and other northern towns early this week.
The Eastern Star chapter installed officers at a Tuesday evening ceremony with Ruth Natins named as guiding officer. Installers included Mike Jeasio and Guinney Wort Tron, with Sophia Sage and Brooks among the associates.
