Fourteenth Annual Banquet of C of C Held at Manhattan
The Fourteenth Annual Chamber of Commerce banquet occurred Tuesday at the Manhattan Cafe with many out-of-town guests. Presiding was President F L Gilmore. A A Temke reported remaining funds of 656.00 from a year with 5 609.12 spent boosting Deming and the Mimbres Valley. A G Martin of the El Paso Herald praised business conditions and active booster spirit. N S Moses discussed underground water for irrigation, cost of pumping, and recommendations. Dean Bloodgood reported on water tables and potential irrigation across the Mimbres Valley with scale of land and pumping costs. He outlined acreage under various water-table depths and pumping needs, noting high freight costs for fuel oil. He urged forming a power district to tap Elephant Butte power for farmers, and recommended hiring a county farm agent to assist in implementing irrigation and machinery improvements. W E Berry and Allen Gaines suffered injuries when a party of rapid Mexican tourists collided with their transfer trucks on Spruce near Fetty apartments Wednesday afternoon. Berry sustained a severe facial cut and a leg injury, Gaines a chest bump, both treated as the tourists fled toward Lordsburg. license numbers secured for investigation.

Cavalry to Have New Rifle Range Soon

Explosion Injures Two in Deming Home Fire
An unnamed fuel in a heating stove exploded Saturday around 10 PM in a Deming adobe home belonging to Herman Pares near Dutcher's store.
