Damage Suit Over Foot Injury At Santa Rita

Attorney James S. Fielder filed in Luna County District Court a $5,000 damages suit by Luis Gutierrez against the Chino Copper Company for injuries to his foot while working on a steam shovel at Santa Rita. Gutierrez says he was ordered to oil a hoisting chain and, when the engineer released the brakes, the machinery moved and ground off toes and part of the foot.

Governor appoints Lester to international farming congress

Lester Lee named by the Governor as representative of New Mexico to the International Dry Farming Congress and International Soil Products Congress in Tulsa Oklahoma from October 22 to November 1. He notes a railroad ticket was provided but will attend regardless.

Railway Men Inspect Deming Irrigation Projects in Mimbres Valley

C J Seagraves and Norris H Reed of the A T & S F railway along with H M Rainer and others visited Deming to view the Rio Mimbres Irrigation Company's development two miles northwest of Deming and extend fifteen miles up the Santa Fe line. They praised the project terms including long land-sale payments with no further payments due for two years. They also checked Gaskill chicken ranch and met buyers from Minnesota Iowa Illinois and Indiana. Reed plans a return visit to gather material for future publicity. Beery and wife arrived to present lectures on farming truck growing and fruit raising in the valley with Chamber support.

Prospective Mimbres Valley Investors Turn $100000 in Lands

Four thousand acres of the 10 000 acre tract were sold to buyers who will occupy land by January or hire tenants. Notables include W W Fisher Belle fountain Ohio and C E B Kelly. Minnesota officials E Keller and J C Harris also bought acreage and praise irrigation pumping and electric power. Local line, pumps, and wells are under rapid construction as development accelerates.

Farmer Holt Making Good at Fairview Farm Demonstration

W E Holt former editor turns farmer and shows a 160 acre Fairview farm 105 acres under cultivation on 40 acre tracts with irrigation from two pumps driven by oil engines. Tenants C E Marr and W F Griffith tend 75 acres including beans and Milo while other owners from Pecos Valley and Oklahoma hold small crops. Sam T Clark named to Panama Exposition commission with $30,000 state support. Clark travels to Santa Fe to coordinate with governor.
