Dennis Snyder in Deming on a Short Leave

Dennis L. Snyder, a Deming native who joined the army early in the war, has returned to Deming on a short furlough. He served in the New Mexico regiment and the quartermasters corps, fought near the Argonne forest, trained at Camp Kearny, and arrived in France with the 40th Sunshine Division. He is spending time visiting friends before returning to Kansas for the remainder of his furlough. he is not yet married.

W O W holds annual convention reports and officers elected

The Friday session of the W O W annnual convention in Deming focused on committee reports and routine business. On Saturday officers for the coming term were elected including Head Consul R N Miller Head Advisor A A Botts and Head Clerk W J Colling. Resolutions thanked Acting Governor Pankey Mayor Hamilton and Deming citizens for hosting and praised the Chamber of Commerce and Deming camp for their efforts.

Calendar of spring term court opens with large docket

The spring term of court opened Monday with Judge Raymond 8. Ryan presiding and District Attorney J. S. Vaught for the state. Barth Disbarment Case Up for Trial

The case against Attorney Isaac Barth former state senator and disbarment charges opened at Santa Fe on Tuesday before Chief Justice Parker Justice Roberta and Judge Holloman. The hearing is expected to last several days. Horton Smith inventor of the machine that determines oil depth and flow traveled to El Paso yesterday afternoon to obtain a well for a Texas field operation. Turkey turmoil as Bolshevik government declared

A revolution has erupted in Turkey and a soviet government is proclaimed. A revolutionary committee is set up in Constantinople, per a telegraphic report from Kiev to Paris via a Bolshevik emissary. The message says the Turkish consul in Olezsa received official notification of the change.

Fail to Shut Water Out of Columbus Oil Well

Valley Oil Company officials report failure to seal water from the Columbus oil well. After pulling cement last evening, water rose about 40 feet by morning, leaving a small aperture yet to be sealed.
