Reduced Freight Rate On Metals To Deming

The Diala will open the Highway Filling Station on the corner of Spruce and Silver around the 18th. Mrs. Dial will handle management due to Mr. Dial's ill health. The lot is the K. P. lot and the business will offer gasoline oils and accessories. Mr. Dial says they have taken over Terry Garage gas pumps and accessories, with Mr. Terry to focus on repair work and auto storage. The location on the main tourist route is expected to draw local and tourist patronage. the couple have lived in Deming ten years and have many friends.

J. J. Smith Dead After Long Santa Fe Service
J. J. Smith longtime Santa Fe employee and flagman at the Gold Avenue crossing died at Albuquerque hospital at 1 20 Friday morning. Mrs. Smith sails to Albuquerque to escort his remains to Toronto Kansas for burial. He had suffered extended illness, stomach trouble cited as cause.
