Ministers traveling in Missouri or Kansas will be judged by the new standard and may face limited privileges unless they preach in support of slavery. The Nebraska bill is viewed as a boon to Kansans and their self chosen Legislature, while Missouri’s influence is questioned. Also reports of a fatal tree incident in Indiana and a family bereavement in Iowa are noted.
