Russell B. Kern of Covington will occupy the pulpit at the Delphi Methodist church Sunday morning assigned by a Methodist conference. He is a young minister with a strong reputation for oratory and integrity who has rejected other lucrative paths to devote himself to ministry. He recently carried Fountain county in a congressional race against Mr. Purnell and will move to Delphi next Wednesday.

Alfred Boothroyd a respected Delphi resident died at his South Delphi home after a weeks illness He was born July 4 1847 in Bradford England and died September 21 1924 aged 77 He ran a monument business now carried on by his son and grandson He belonged to Lafayette I O O F No 22 for 56 years He is survived by his wife two sons Fred Delphi and Harry Monticello and two stepsons Wilbur Farr Syracuse NY and Wade Farr Denver CO Funeral services were held at his home Wednesday at ten in the morning Rev R O Kim Berlin presiding Burial was in the I C O F Cemetery O S S Baird has filed suit against county council members to compel funds for his office per law
Miss Carroll Lavone Bozworth of Sedalia and Donald Smith son of Mr and Mrs W C Smith were married Monday evening by Rev Jones of Sedalia M E church. Attendants were Miss Mabel Whiteman of Frankfort and Lawrence Foster of Delphi. The bride, a Cutler High School and Lafayette Business College graduate, has worked as a stenographer in Frankfort. the groom has worked in his father's grocery in Sedalia. They will reside in Sedalia.
The Delphi high school Senior Class signs for a lyceum course of four numbers and plans to publish a school paper and a class annual. They aim to boost programs through study and hard work, believing youth and enthusiasm lead to success. Girls and teachers enjoyed an old fashioned party with Miss Mary Alice Myers named prettiest colonial belle.
Democrat nominee John W. Davis rejects charges by former attorney general Harry M. Daugherty. He says the real enemies are corrupt public officials and their associates and urges the moral rally of American voters.
County Superintendent Glen Fox of Delphi ruled in favor of Ira Flora and Grover Jackson asserting transfers from Monroe township to Flora schools. The decision issued last Friday grants their requested transfers. Additional Monroe patrons seek similar transfers from Trustee Eaton. On Saturday Fox heard David Wray appeal for a transfer for his children from Jackson township to Flora schools. decision pending.
A Sunday evening crash three miles northwest of Frankfort on Jackson highway involved Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hurtt of Yeoman and their granddaughter Louise Christie of Danville. Blinding headlights from an oncoming car caused Hurtt to leave the road, the vehicle overturned, and the occupants were trapped before help arrived. Mrs. Hurtt and Louise Christie were unhurt. Mr. Hurtt suffered a severed artery in his wrist.
Wabash Railroad officials visit Delphi to study the need for new stock pens along their line. Although no lease is signed, tentative arrangements with M. Kerlin cover several of his lots. If built in the coming weeks, the loading pens would be near the shipping trade, as current stock shippers go to other points due to loading facilities and train schedules.
Woman's Club seeks four baby cribs for restroom use during County Fair week. Call Mrs. I. M. Pletcher of Delphi to lend or arrange return after the fair.
Lee Turner an 18 year old of Kokomo is jailed in Carroll County charged with operating a thirty five gallon still in Tippecanoe township. Police seized 300 gallons mash and 8 to 9 gallons of white mule. An accomplice Russell Bowen 23 of Kokomo was arrested in Kokomo. The white mule market is reported to be at Oakdale dam where workers gather.
The annual Methodist conference assignments place Rev. R O Kimberlin from Delphi to St Pauls Church in Lafayette. Rev. R B Kern moves from Covington to Delphi. Rev. Griest goes to Terre Haute. Beverlin family to Lafayette next Wednesday. Kern and Griest relocations follow.
The Citizen reports the proper Delphi decoration colors Blue Green and Pink for the State Grange convention with Blue for the first four degrees Green for the fifth and Pink for the sixth all colors acceptable for the event. Also notes Delphi High School opens season Oct 31 against Cutler and Congressman Fred S. Purnell’s county visit aided by Tim McCormick an appointee under the state fire marshal with arson inspector pay.
