Charles Buckley 88 longtime farmer and horticulture authority died Wednesday night at his birth home four miles east of Delphi after two years of illness. He taught school served county office and was a Knights of Pythias member and oldest Flag Bearer of Uniform Bank. Survived by widow daughter Mrs Lewis Wise four grandchildren Dr Charles Wise Mrs Homer Wilson and others. Funeral arrangements set with Blythe and Sons and services to be held at the Wise home.
Indiana towns under 3 000 population will hold elections on November 7 to elect trustees and officials. Nineteen towns including Delphi Monticello and Rensselaer lose city status under the municipal act passed last session. State committees must set rules for election procedures and candidate nominations.
Meredith Nicholson Indiana author and diplomat to Paraguay married Dorothy Lannon of Marion in Washington. Rev A G B Pierce officiated in Senator Van Nuys's apartment. The couple plan to sail for Asuncion September 30 after a New York departure.
Funeral services for William B. Davis, 86, intimate friend of James Whitcomb Riley, were held Thursday afternoon near Fountain Town, Indiana, honoring his longtime association and companionship with the famed poet.

Hilb a 20 year old Chicago senior in mechanical engineering at Purdue was killed when the Model T Ford he rode in collided with a car driven by George Weckerly of Delphi at a filling station. Miss Helen Potter 18 Lafayette business college student was badly injured with a lacerated cheek and hand. Both cars were wrecked.
Local officials cleared up the theft of typewriters from Adams township and Cutler school buildings after a confession by Charles Sheldon. He implicated Everett Rider, who surrendered and is held on bond in White County circuit court for alleged theft from Round Grove School. Sheldon remains jailed.
The Monticello city council met in special session and voted to conduct an immediate census to determine if the population remains at 3,000, the minimum for city status. If preserved, no city election is held this year. if not, the town status triggers an election and trustee selection. Mrs. Josephine Ives has returned to Indianapolis.

Committees have completed plans for a Democratic rally to be held tonight at the Armory. Lieutenant Governor Clifford Townsend and other prominent Democratic officials will speak as the event begins at 8 o'clock.

The local Red Cross chapter shipped twenty nine Christmas bags to American soldiers abroad via the New York Headquarters. Each of twenty nine county clubs or organizations donated one bag filled with personal items such as handkerchiefs socks razors knives playing cards and similar comforts. Mrs Charlotte E Schnepp chaired the Home Service Department and oversaw the shipment amid broad organizational support this year.
Four injured and a child killed when a car driven by Mrs. Fred Grauel skidded and overturned four miles west of Grass Creek on Wednesday morning. Alvin Grauel, 22 month-old son of Mr and Mrs Fred Grauel, died after reaching home. The parents and two other children were injured while en route to a funeral at Royal Center. The Grauel family survived with two brothers and a sister.
In accord with city council and chamber requests, Indiana Service Corporation agrees to replace J. M. Daly and Clarence Dar raugh, keep two substation workers, and add two more to raise total force to six for round the clock service.
Roy Lane, a Florida business owner, traveled back to Florida on Thursday and told his brother Wilbur that the damage in the district was not as severe as expected. His house reportedly survived the tornado intact.

Delphi basketball coach Paul Lostutter and Bowen Robinson reach the city golf final after elimination matches over the past weeks. Lostutter beat Myron Ives Joseph Ives and James Bundy to reach Sunday’s 18 holes, while Robinson defeated Ralph Hanna Bob Vam Atta and Charles Wilson.
W H Isenhour age 60 of Radnor died Saturday morning at Home hospital in Lafayette after a year and a half of illness. He leaves a widow Junanita Miller of Indianapolis a son Wayne Isenhour of Oakland California and two brothers. The body was taken to the family home in Radnor where he had run the Radnor general store for two years.
R. Walton Moore, former Virginia congressman, was named today by President Roosevelt to succeed Raymond Moley as assistant secretary of state. Moore served eleven years on the foreign affairs committee and was a colleague of Cordell Hull, the current secretary of state.
The Harry Wiley farm home four miles south of Delphi was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon. Occupied by Charles Gane at the time, the blaze is believed to have started from an imperfect flue. Delphi volunteers fought the flames in a futile effort to save the building.
William Hatter was released after a Citizen report mis-stated the charge as criminal assault. The correct charge was assault and battery, and the case was dismissed without trial.
James Nelson aged 91 of Delph north area will celebrate his ninety first birthday at home on Sunday with a family dinner at noon.
