Ray Hunter to Be Arraigned Monday in Delphi
Delphi man Ray Hunter was arrested Monday on Franklin Street for driving an automobile while intoxicated. He tested 3.8 percent on the drunkometer, was arraigned in Carroll circuit court and released on $250 bond pending plea on Monday. Harold and Mrs. Brewer of Delphi welcomed a daughter Tuesday at St Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.

Thomas McCurdy 90 retired Tippe canoe and White county farmer died at his daughter Mrs W F Helms home in Chalmers Tuesday night. He was born in Highbridge New Jersey and is survived by his daughter three sons Fred McCurdy Reynolds Tom McCurdy Adams township and Lawrence McCurdy Lafayette. Funeral rites will be at 1 30 Friday afternoon from the Helms residence with burial in Battle Ground cemetery.

Eldon Brown was arraigned in circuit court on a child neglect charge. He pled guilty and received five months at the Indiana State Farm and a $5 fine plus costs, suspended on condition he furnish food clothing and school supplies for his two children.

Will Davis Dies at 66 Former Delphi Jeweler
Will Davis 66 longtime jeweler and former Delphi resident died Monday at his Columbus Indiana home. He came to Delphi as a boy, later worked with Luther McCain and J E Ruffings before moving to Columbus in 1915. He married Amy Charles in 1905 and served as a deacon at Tabernacle Christian Church. Surviving are son Charles brother Forest Davis and sister Mrs Ott Shuey of Delphi. Funeral services held in Columbus with burial there.

Carroll County Cuts 5193 From 1941 Appropriations
The Carroll County Council reduced 5193 from the 1941 county appropriations over two days at the courthouse. This lowers combined 1941 rate to 27 cents from 25 cents present, with welfare and general rates adjusted. A new radio for the sheriff’s office and a refrigerator for the county jail were approved. The tax adjustment board will meet September 9 to review rates.

Burial Rites Set for J Frank Smith in Flora
J Frank Smith longtime Lafayette resident and Tippecanoe county state representative died in Lafayette Wednesday morning after 21 years there. Burial is planned Friday at 2 PM in Maple Lawn cemetery Flora. He owned lumber yards at Buck Creek and Battle Ground and had various business partnerships including a Flora hardware store with his brother. He was born near Lockport Carroll county December 16 1875 and is survived by widow Emma J Smith daughter Mrs J Hobart Kampbell Richland sister Charles E Smith and several siblings.
