The Citizen reports a successful end to its August subscription campaign with a year’s subscription at $1.20 and a large list of subscribers from Delphi and surrounding towns. Day and mail orders boosted totals as readers praised the home paper.
The Delphi Schools begin Monday September 7 at 8 30 with a brief first day. Book lists will be distributed and work organized so regular lessons start Tuesday. All pupils should enter promptly. Mrs. Sue Snyder, 70, died at her Camden home at 12 30 Wednesday morning after eleven weeks of illness from a stroke. She was the widow of Edward Snyder who died nine years ago. Survived by one sister Mrs. Sarah Thomas.
A boy is fitted with Poll Parrot solid shoes at the Model Quick and Clifford store. The event highlights new footwear on display and a fitting demonstration for customers.
Five Year Club lists W. L. Beck of Sedalia C. O. Julius of City John Holladay of Delphi and Roy Snoeberger of Delphi as honored members reflecting milestone recognition in a local civic notice.
Madison Arnot suffered a back injury after a joke gave way at the Home Hospital construction site in Lafayette. He fell a distance but no bones were broken and he was taken to the Home Hospital, where he remains confined. Elizabeth Heffner, a niece, is the night superintendent and efforts to aid his recovery continue.
The Delphi Chamber of Commerce directors met at City Hall and named a banquet committee for the next three months. They instructed the secretary to contact the state highway commission about repairing the Washington street bridge over Deer Creek due to badly worn girders and holes. They also criticized the poor condition of state road 44 as service men were moved from road 44 to road 15 from Indianapolis to Logansport.
The Delphi Park reports a strong season with over 6175 meals served this year not counting students. Local groups and nearby towns held reunions, sometimes two on the same day, with new tables seats and playground equipment widely used. The park stays open through late September or early October with several September dates scheduled.
Water supply fell due to drought with pumping off for several nights this week. Diminished springs raise demand on faucets while the canning plant increases water use during corn pack. City officials urge citizens to be careful about fires.
This week licenses were issued to Ennis M. Davis and Edith Vivian Harmon of Burlington, Fred L. Stephens of Indianapolis and Grace B. Waterford of Camden, Eugene Paul Willy of Fort Wayne and Mary Eliza Appleton of Washington township, Charles Hird and Maggie Everhart of Burrows.
Carroll County officials laud The Citizen for a special edition on the October exhibit. They express gratitude and urge favorable weather cooperation, hoping for a few showers to aid the event.

Eighty five high school athletes and Hi Y boys are at Camp Tecumseh this week for special football training. Purdue connected coaches Phelan Cleveland and Spaulding lead daily sessions with assistance from Purdue staff. Next week another eighty five incoming Purdue freshmen join the program.
Sutton Van Pelt, Oakdale dam superintendent, plans a Monday September 18 celebration at the dam to mark the probable date for connecting power to distant points and starting commercial power generation. Prominent power officials are to attend along with Delphi and Monticello Chamber members who have accepted the invitation. Delphi Chamber directors also approved attendance at their meeting.
Citizens urged to avoid burning fallen leaves as drought continues. Firemen warn of high ignition risk with dry grass and limited water supply, turned off 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. Do not burn for entertainment. burn only in morning with dew and adult supervision. Public notice from local officials.
The Board of Education held a regular semi annual session on Sept 2 1925 at the county superintendent's office. They adopted school regulation requiring teachers to be in classrooms at least thirty minutes before opening. They requested funds for a County Attendance officer and a telephone in the county superintendent's office. They appointed Armstrong to join the committee selecting a county health teacher.
The final band concert of the season will be held next Thursday evening. The last dance occurred Thursday night this week. Dances on alternating weeks boosted the season’s enjoyment for all ages. Weather has been favorable and crowds have attended.
Mr and Mrs Don Julien of La Grange Illinois visit his parents Mr and Mrs G W Julien during a local family gathering with extended relatives in the area.
The Carroll County Bankers Association and guests met at Delphi Park for their annual picnic. Garfield Shaffer supervised the program and dinner arrangements. Frank Sanderson was elected president and Harry E. Reed vice president. Arthur Sapp delivered the evening address on business cooperation.
The Madison township Parent Teachers' Club voted to reject Flora's bid to transfer high school pupils at $100 per pupil with free transport. Despite interest from Flora pupils, the majority favored sending students to Delphi and other districts.
