New Rules May End 4 F Classification In Indiana
Indiana Selective Service announces national changes to identify men who could serve in an emergency but are not accepted under current standards. Local boards will stop placing such men in IV F and report whether they could be qualified in emergencies. Col. Rhodes notes many IV F rejects could serve under altered standards and emphasizes temporary nature of IV F. About 62,000 Indiana men were IV F as of July 31, 1960, from 586,000 since 1948.
