Boost of Minimum Pay Has No Effect in Delphi Industries
The wage and hours law hike from 25 to 380 cents and hour reductions from 44 to 42 hours barely affect Delphi's two main plants the Globe Valve and the Delphi Body Works. Managers Bradshaw and Young say Body Works pays above the minimum and will not hire new workers as seasonal demand falls, and Globe Valve operates largely on piece work so the change does not alter payroll materially.
