YDs Enjoy Combos At Trails Sunday

Four hundred teenagers danced to three combos at a Young Democrats gathering at the Trails last Sunday. Guests of honor included Jan Hartke Bob Branigin Mike Stewart and Dave Roush. Tippecanoe County won the combo contest with The Makers, who will audition in Chicago for Ted Mack Show.

Selective Service Calls Five 18 Year Olds for November

County G O P Fiesta Night honors retiring committeemen

The Carroll County Republican Party will host a Party Appreciation Fiesta at the REMC auditorium on Monday night October 12 to honor nine precinct committeemen and seven vice committeemen who retired this year. Sue Wingard Injured In Crash Wednesday

A Delphi woman, Susan Jane Wingard, was injured in a two vehicle crash about 1 mile east of Americus on Highway 25 Wednesday afternoon. She collided with a westbound car driven by James Flaningham of Lafayette. Both were taken to St Elizabeth Hospital. Wingard suffered a possible fractured nose. Flaningham had head lacerations. State Troopers Donald Cox and Ted Dudzinski investigated.

County approves new sheriff car bid for 1965 Plymouth

The County Commissioners awarded the bid for a new sheriff car to Flora Auto and Equipment Co for a 1965 Plymouth. The trade in value for the 1963 Chevrolet was $1343.87. Mann Chevrolet bid $1431.00 on a 1965 Chevrolet.

Oracles Defeat Southwestern in High-Scoring rout

Delphi’s defense forced six interceptions and scored on two drives as the Oracles overwhelmed Southwestern 45 to 13. Mike VanSickle led the bandit crew with three picks and a touchdown, while Delphi blocked out Wildcat rallies and ran for 294 yards on the night.

Cross Country Meets Set at Delphi Over Eight Days

Delphi hosts three major cross country meets at the Carroll County Country Club course in eight days. Events include the Hoosier Conference Meet Friday at 4 30 PM with Attica Carroll Delphi Rossville Southwestern Western West Lafayette and Winamac. West Lafayette led last year with five top finishers. Mark Gibbens of West Lafayette is the standout to watch. The Delphi Invitational follows on Tuesday October 13 at 4 30 PM with fifteen teams entered including Brook Western Boswell Twin Lakes Seeger Rensselaer Carroll Battle Ground North White West Lafayette Southwestern Crown Point East Tipp Attica and Delphi. Council Doubles Firemen Roster In Monday Action

Ten more firemen will be added to the local force on a stand by, no pay basis, doubling the present roster. Fire Chief Gene Roskuski announced Saturday fire hazard inspections for all business places and the council agreed to pay half the cost of new curbs and gutters near parking meters. Police Chief Merle Cree reported September meter collections of 582.27 and building permit receipts of 30.00. He noted school children continue tossing pop bottles despite new receptacles along the school to town route and was authorized to paint a cross walk for children on North Street at the bridge steps.

Red Cross Elects New Carroll County Chapter Officers

Mrs Harold Thayer was re elected president of the Carroll County Chapter of the American Red Cross at the last Monday in September meeting. New and continuing officers include Mrs Lee Flora as 1st vice president and Mrs Frederick Franz as 2nd vice president.

School and Home Members To Meet New Teachers

The Delphi School and Home Association will host a reception for new members and teachers on Monday October 12 at 7:30 P.M. in the High School Cafeteria. Jody Gentry Elected AWS Representative at Purdue

Jody Gentry, daughter of Mr and Mrs Norwood Gentry and Purdue sophomore from Camden, was elected AWS representative from H-8 Women’s Residence Hall. AWS selects campus women’s groups and handles student matters not under faculty jurisdiction, including events like Miss Purdue, Golddiggers Ball, and Atom Week.
