Democrats Name Frankfort Mayor for Senate Race

Clifford E. Crawford the present mayor of Frankfort and former Clinton county farmer was chosen by the three county Democratic convention to oppose Russ Harter of Bringhurst for the state senate seat once held by Claude Wickard. A report said Wickard resigned but this was unconfirmed.

Charles E. McKinley sues Robert J. Roach of Delphi for 3000 in Boone county alleging injuries from a March 10 1933 automobile collision near the state roads 29 Rosston intersection. The complaint claims Roach was 13 and operated the car illegally without a license.

Clarence Jackson to speak at Camden on tax program

Clarence Jackson head of the State Gross Income Tax Department is scheduled to speak at the Camden opera house Wednesday evening October 10 at 8 o'clock. He will review the state and national tax program focusing on the broadening program in which his department is a major feature. Camden expects taxpayers from the county. the talk is sponsored by the Democratic central committee with the Jackson Township Women's Democratic Club in charge.

State Will Add 5000 More To County Coffers

Carroll county will receive $5214 55 as its share of state intangibles tax distributions Oct. 15 from the state tax board of tax commissioners. The distribution will exceed last October by $3763. Of the total distribution, schools will receive three fourths or 910.91 and the remainder stays in the county general fund. The state deducts ten percent before distributing. In 1933 34 Carroll schools received $55720 33 in intangibles gross income and excise taxes. Distribution bases vary by property valuation and attendance.

Amanda Myer 61 wife of Lewis Myer and a longtime Burlington resident died at her home Saturday morning after a long illness. She was a Brethren church member and survived by her husband and several relatives in Dunn and nearby communities. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Walnut Street Brethren church.

Carroll Farmers Respond Readily to Relief Plans

Carroll County farmers showed a ready response to relief plans with about 12000 borrowed in corn loans, ranking 13th among 92 counties. They surpassed Cass Clinton and Howard counties and contracted to pasture 190 cattle from the drought region at one dollar per head per month, per Governor's Commission on Unemployment Relief director Wayne Coy.

Widow Hatilda Creed Dies After Fall At Camden Home

Hatilda J Creed 82 of Camden died Monday morning at her home after a long illness from a broken hip suffered in a fall weeks earlier. She was one of Carroll county's oldest residents and lived most of her life in Camden.
