Next Wednesday night Flora meets the Oracles at the armory in a anticipated game. Flora, despite a 1–3 start, has fought hard and could upset. The rivalry stems from sectional battles and draws a large crowd after last year's 23–9 loss to the Oracles.

Lafayette Indiana November 29 D L Chapman of Delphi a senior in the school of electrical engineering at Purdue University has been honored by election to membership in Eta Kappa Nu the national honorary electrical engineering fraternity Chapman is the son of Mr and Mrs William Givler of Delphi
Carroll County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting with the Solicitor's School on Monday December 11. Officers will be elected and reports for the year presented. C S Masterson is the speaker for morning and afternoon sessions with volunteers listed for township solicitation drives.
Funeral services for William Shafer 84 died Friday at his Burnettsville home were held Sunday afternoon. Interment followed at Cedarville cemetery. Shafer formerly lived in Adan township and is survived by five sons Elton Harold Chester Robert Albert and two daughters Mrs Ed Hershberger of Logansport and Mrs Harold Pierce of Burnettsville.
Sheriff Bert Clifton reports Carroll county inmate George Oliver McLaughlin is the second prisoner to escape Putnamville state farm within a week. McLaughlin, serving four months for check forgery after three months served, fled November 24. Earlier escape was Leo Griffey of Camden for court order violation.
Miss Mary Cochrane Delphi librarian convalesces after amoebic dysentery contracted by visitors at the World’s Fair. She attended the Mayo Brothers clinic in Rochester Minnesota for treatment and recovery.
A former Delphi resident, Loreen Wingerd, will open a one man show at the John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis on Thanksgiving Day. The exhibit features block prints sketches and water colors and runs two weeks with a reception on Sunday December 3. Wingerd a Delphi native and Johns Herron graduate has taught art in Delphi Rochester Seymour and Indianapolis schools and has earned prizes at the Indiana state fair and Hoosier Salon exhibitions. Her work is also in shows at Spink Arms Indianapolis and L S Ayres & Co store.
John Frye of W9EGV transmitted a notice from The Citizen about Parker Frye son of Mr and Mrs O P Frye Logansport and Ethel Duffey Rushville marrying in Logansport. The couple wed November 38 according to Rev Carroll at the Christian church. They will live in Indianapolis where the groom works for Indiana Motor Bus Company.
Governor McNutt disclosed that about 25 percent of the state teachers retirement bonds, face value 12 million dollars, are worthless following the disappearance of 25 690 dollars. Miss Cora Steele of Terre Haute, a former retirement board member, has been indicted for the theft.
A barn on Mrs. Nettie Yeoman’s farm burned Saturday afternoon while corn shredding was underway. Fire, likely from internal combustion, destroyed the barn along with a Fordson tractor truck and 700 bushels of corn. Fifteen volunteers fought the blaze but could not stop it. insurance partly covered the loss.
Paul Ashba manager of the local automobile license bureau announced that industrial license blanks have been received. Indiana law requires hotels theaters and employers with five or more workers to obtain licenses for public protection. The deadline for 1983 licenses was set for November 20 but applications will be accepted for several more days due to shortages of forms.
Beginning Sunday December 3 Rev H Hugo will conduct a two week revival series at Rockfield Presbyterian Church. Howard Jenkins leads the music and a program of evangelistic music includes choir anthems with orchestra under Mrs Fred Miller.
The trial of Dan ey Richardson has not been scheduled. Officials expect a date around January 15. Sheriff Bert Clifton holds guns used by the Richardson gang in the Lafayette shooting as Richardson remains held in Michigan City state prison awaiting trial in Carroll County Circuit Court for the alleged murder of Patrolman J. Wesley Wilson.
Delaware Delphi Lebanon Frankfort and Jefferson high schools in Lafayette head to the annual Big Four tourney on January 1 with drawings to follow. Jefferson and Lebanon expected to be strong foes as Flora hosts the county Big Four tournament January 20. The Burlington Invitational returns January 19 and 20 with last year’s Camden team likely among the contenders.
Mrs. Fern Smith, a Burlington township precinct committeewoman, is appointed to succeed Lamont Creason as postmaster in Burlington. She has lived two miles south of Burlington, and the Burlington post office operates as a third class office.
William E Lake 63 died Sunday afternoon at his home southwest of Delphi. Survived by widow two sons Elbert Colburn and Forrest Lafayette a daughter Mrs Goldie Johnston Lafayette two sisters and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 30 AM at Montmorenci United Brethren church with burial in adjoining cemetery.
The Carroll County Tuberculosis Association invites Dr. R G Block of the University of Chicago Medical School to speak at its annual meeting on January 18 with physicians and dentists as guests. Afterward Dr Block will confer with the Carroll County Medical Society on advanced prevention work. Mantoux clinic is set for December 5 at 3 p m in the courthouse with test readings December 7 at 3 p m. The Medical Society notes scientific knowledge and equipment now allow stamping out tuberculosis if used. Carroll County has reduced bovine infection to under one half of one percent.
The Delphi schools will dismiss early Wednesday afternoon so teachers living far away can reach home that evening. The Thanksgiving vacation will continue until the following Monday.
