A commemorative message urges reflection on Memorial Day honoring American dead. It calls for solemn ceremonies, tears, floral displays, and flags at gravesites. The piece emphasizes rededication to liberty and justice and enduring peace for all mankind.
The Delphi Deer Creek School Board met last Thursday and awarded bus contracts. Route 1 went to Gene Roskuski for 13 dollars a day, Route 2 to Luther Hunt at 8, Route 3 to Hansel McHardie at 8, Route 4 to John E Snoeberger at 8, Route 5 to Bob Landis at 5. Two drivers for school owned buses will receive extra compensation for west Delphi routes. The board also employed a school nurse and awarded a contract to Mrs. Paul Johnson.
A bake sale is scheduled for Saturday May 27 starting at 9 a.m. The Catholic Community will cater the event hosted by St Joseph's Church, 2012.
Army Lt Col Howard H Featherston arrives in Korea and serves with the 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters, the unit on the frontline. His wife Wealthia lives in Athens Georgia and he is a 1941 Army recruit, Fort Benning and 1936 Anderson High School and University of Georgia graduate. His father Ross Featherston lives in Delphi Route 3.
F Stephen Peterson from Delphi Indiana was named one of three outstanding chemistry freshmen among 26 recognized at Indiana University. The honors were presented Friday night at the IU chemistry department honors banquet.

Alice V. Sledge sues in circuit court for divorce from Jack Sledge on grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment. They wed October 26, 1932 and separated May 18 of this year. Bishop and Bishop represent the plaintiff.
Theodore Lee Williams Monte Alderfer Reid Sales and others filed a petition in Carroll circuit court to vacate a portion of Second Street in Gilliford's addition to South Delphi. Six new instructors join Carroll Consolidated School for the upcoming year. Names include James Bray a Cutler High and Purdue graduate, Margaret Ann Pearce an Earlham College alumna, Clarence Lane from western Howard County, former Deacon teacher Mrs. Robert Stephen of Flora, Michael Hinkle of Wi township, and Rollo Beimer of Battle Ground. J Stanley Lyon will become Rockfield grade school principal after three years teaching Flora sixth grade, and Mrs Lyon will also teach at Rockfield.
