Guests included Mrs O M Pittenger state president Indianapolis Mrs H K Sparks and Mrs Russell Kramer Frankfort Mrs Edward Franklin White attorney general Indianapolis Mr and Mrs James P Wason Mrs N J Howe and Henry B Wilson of this city.
Mrs. Russell Zartman hosted a miscellaneous shower for her sister-in-law Miss Elizabeth Zartman of Logansport in Carrollton township. Elizabeth, daughter of Mrs. J D Zartman, will wed Edward Kelly son of Mr and Mrs J F Kelly of Logansport soon. Elizabeth is well known locally and her father James Zartman was a former Carroll County commissioner. Mr Kelly is noted as a prominent Logansport young man.
A local sale event at Rexall Drug and Book Wall Paper Store was held from 9 to 1. The listing notes a Rexall facility and wallpaper store combining on one date.
The Monon route ends the morning plug train routed through Delphi at 7 47 A M amid falling traffic from buses and cars. Delphi residents face new one day trips to Indianapolis with 12 31 P M departure and 6 12 P M return. Other changes adjust Train No 37 to 12 31 P M and No 38 from 1 50 to 1 48 P M.
Martha Weaver widow of land holder William H. Weaver died last Friday at the home of her daughter near Cutler after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Cutler Presbyterian church with Rev. A. E. Carter and Rev. O. L. Prentice officiating. Interment followed at Ball Hill cemetery. She was born Martha Long in 1835 and left twelve children, thirteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Miss Genevieve Ryan a Chicago teacher spends spring vacation at home. She attended the birthday celebration of her aunt Mrs Mary Mahoney in this city Friday and Saturday. Mrs Mahoney, aged eighty five, received ninety one roses in a rose shower from nieces and nephews. A girlhood friend Mrs Jerry Haugh also attended. Miss Ryan returns to Chicago Sunday.
The body of Paul Breaker arrived from Atlanta to Camden for burial in the Camden cemetery. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church with Rev. Taylor of the First Baptist Church in Indianapolis officiating.
A baby boy was born Tuesday to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gish of Camden. The birth adds a son to the family.
Last Friday Delphi residents attended a high school gym program headlined by Flo Bradshaw with twelve acts ranging from vaudeville to Russian dancing. Performers included John Todd as Dr Claus er and R L Eckhart, with a wild west sketch interrupted by law officers. The show featured the Retherford orchestra and others, concluding with Roy Clauser and Lula Fauber. Proceeds supported Carroll County Historical Society.
Guy Julien buys half interest in John Baer's second hand store forming a partnership. An auction sale is set for next Saturday May 9 to reduce the stock of new and second hand goods to make room for new and second hand furniture.
The Titlow 5c and 10c store will open next Saturday May 9 with all new stock. No item will be priced above 10 cents.
Delphi opens new stock shipping pens along the Wabash with supports from heavy bridge ties and two inch lumber. The facility, built this week at Main Street near the Kerlin elevator on C M Ilin land, holds three carloads of hogs and includes unloading and loading chutes for trucks and stock cars. Future shipments to Indianapolis and other Wabash lines will use the new loading facilities and local train service.
Eli Beard born June 7 1835 in Dark County Ohio lived in Clay Township Carroll County before settling on the Herman Leibert farm near Pyrmont. He married Mary Jane Hughes and had seven children. his wife and three children predeceased him. He died Monday at his daughter Mrs Joseph Bohms Flora home after visiting April 12. Funeral in Clay Township Wednesday at 2 PM with Masons assisting. he was a Mason for 56 years and a charter member of Mt Olive Lodge.
Miss Fredda Holden former Delphi teacher and Samuel G Ludington from Yale Michigan announced to marry on April 18. The bride taught music and art in Delphi from 1913 to 1914.
Marriage licenses were issued to Wm. J. Tribbett and Mary I. Stigers of Rockfield, Leslie Avery of Clinton Co, Blanche Roll of Cutler, John A. Shoulders and Helen Bearley of Monticello Rural Route.
Crawford Bros rented the McCain room on the public square yesterday and relocated their grocery stock to the new location in a move on the North side of the square.

Charles Stewart and Ray Goden form a partnership to build a fireproof dry cleaning plant on East Monroe street Mortonsville. Construction starts immediately with operations and pressing at the Stewart tailor shop. Fire Marshal inspector approved plans. Ray Gochenour to oversee mechanical work and provide odor free delivery.
The Ninth District Federation of Women's Clubs elected its officers for the coming year. Mrs. Frank Lyon of Delphi was named Chairman, with Mrs. Benj. McKey of Lebanon as Vice-Chairman and Mrs. Joseph Clark of Delphi as Secretary-Treasurer.
I C O F Carroll Lodge will confer the Initiatory degree Thursday May 7. The lodge reports a substantial increase in membership since January 1.
Mrs Harriet Keever of Delphi died Wednesday after paralysis struck Sunday night. She and daughter Sadie moved from Monticello nine years ago, earning wide community regard through church and school work. Funeral Friday at the Keever home. burial in Riverview near Monticello. Survived by Sadie, Ellis in Indianapolis, brother Hiram Ellis, sister Mrs Francis Greer, and three grandchildren.
Kansas plans a warm homecoming for William M. Jardine Secretary of Agriculture returning from Washington to Manhattan May 9. The State keeps his Kansas Agricultural College presidency active granting six months leave and rent free use of a $30 000 college home for his family to finish the school year. Jardine says he seeks limited Washington tenure not the glamour of capital life.
Petunia was selected as the city flower at a Ninth District club meeting. Club president Harry S. Brewer announced the choice after earlier favoring the delphinium faced protests over cultivation and bloom issues. A campaign to plant petunias citywide will begin next week, and the Woman's club contributed ten dollars to the hostess fund for the West Baden council meeting.
