Oats Varieties Benton and Clinton 59 Lead Indiana Tests
Purdue agronomists report Benton and Clinton 59 as top oat varieties in Indiana trials over three years for yield test weight and overall performance. Benton shows more consistent yield and taller stalks. Clinton 59 offers stiffer straw and higher top yields. Both exhibit disease tolerance to leaf rust and compare favorably to Canadian varieties for test weight and quality. Farmers urged to secure 1951 seed promptly due to seed movement and variable germination from stored oats.
