Local events fill the weekend including REMC meeting at Camden and Tyner Shoe fashion show. Reports cover bowling victories by Johnson Grocery and Kay Lundquist’s honors. Also notes on a Florida student and various community notices from Delphi and surrounding areas.
The Parent Teachers Organization of Yeoman School sponsors a free square dance in the school gym on Friday March 19 starting at eight o clock. The public is invited with no advance charge. Co chairmen are Mr and Mrs Ted Wiltse and Mr and Mrs Don Brosman. committee members include Mr and Mrs Howard Craig Mr and Mrs Jack Nace Mr and Mrs Robert Larson Mr and Mrs William Lux Mr and Mrs Bob Ringer Mr and Mrs James Spencer Mr and Don Blackman Mr and Mrs Ioh Mary Myers and Thelma Das ford.
Frank Wilcox director of the Indiana Lions Eye Bank presented the program and showed the film After the Darkness to the Lions Club of Whitestown Monday evening. The Whitestown group plans to cooperate with the Lebanon Club to aid growth of the Collection Center there. Indiana has 43 collection centers and 15 other areas are in planning stages.
County Clerk Frank Wilcox issues a license to Thomas Yerkins and Elsie for a union ceremony. The record confirms the applicants names and official action, noting no further conditions or dates in the available text.
Mr and Mrs Fred C Smith of Fort Wayne will return to Delphia for a golden wedding reception at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday March 20 from two to four in the afternoon. They were married in Delphi on March 20 1915 and have four children listed with spouses and children, plus fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The Delphi Science Fair will be held Friday evening in the high school cafeteria from 7:30 to 9:30. Junior and Senior High students will present about 75 exhibits in Biological Science Physical Science and Construction Engineering. Nine participants will advance to the Regional Science Fair at Purdue University March 19 and 20. The event is open to the public.
The Preaching Mission at St Marys Episcopal Church in Delphi runs March 23 to 25 at 8 p.m. with Rev E Dargan Butt as speaker. Topics cover conversion meaning the church place of the church and the Christian life in the world. A collection each night funds local charity above costs.
The Mental Health Association in Indiana and Carroll County sponsor a spring event for Loganport State Hospital patients. Residents contribute spring and summer hats purses gloves and scarves to a temporary hat shop to be opened April 13 with Gold Ladies and Gold Teens as clerks.
Local artists may obtain entry blanks from Jack Sanders for the 1985 Delphi Art Show. All blanks must be returned.
Delphi Chamber of Commerce announces Indiana Senator Marvin Stewart of Monon will address members and guests at a Welcome Inn Cafe luncheon at 12 05 Wednesday March 24. Stewart, owner of Stewart Funeral Home in Monon, will discuss new legislation impacting communities like Delphi.
Carroll County Extension Office and Miss Kay Aylor invite 4 H members Leaders Scouts Homemakers and anyone interested in crafts to Pittsburg School for craft classes April 1 and 8. Sessions include 3 30 5 30 PM supper hour 7 00 9 00 PM continued session with Mosaic Tile Gravel Pictures Crystalettes knitting leather smocked pillows and other crafts. Supplies will be provided by Mr and Mrs Arnold Armstrong.
Diane Ward a 1964 Delphi High School graduate has joined Lincoln National Life Insurance in Fort Wayne as a secretary. She is part of International Business College Fort Wayne class of seventy five, graduating Thursday March 11.
The Carroll County Federation of Clubs meets Monday at 1 30 P.M. in the Delphi Library basement with Camden Literary Club Delphi Reading Club Flora Art and Garden Club and several home demonstration clubs participating. District president Mrs John Crawford Attica will speak and county president Mrs Ray Myers will conduct the business session.

Mrs. Cecil Horn of Rt. 8 Lafayette was admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital Sunday following a stroke. She is the mother of Mrs. Earl Albrgts of Rt. 2 Delphi.
Two hundred teachers and school personnel attended a reception at Hillcrest on Wednesday March 10 honoring Arthur Weddell new superintendent of Delphi Community Schools and Mrs. Weddell. The Delphi Classroom Teachers Association organized the event with officers David Hanna Jack Sanders Mr. Marsteller and Miss Sailor present. County Council met in a called session and approved funds for an additional deputy sheriff a new sheriff car and a 2 way radio. Allocations totaled 3000 for the deputy 2600 for the car and 766 for the radio with state Tax Board approval pending. Additional items include 39000 for two bridge projects and welfare department typewriter funds trimmed to 220 50.
At Residence Hall X Purdue a scholarship dinner honored Kay Witter daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Witter of Ockley as she received awards for two semesters of A grades.
Mr and Mrs Jerry McMillen purchased the Zook property a home and two acres north of Burlington from Mr and Mrs Robert Zook. The McMillens moved from Greentown and Mr McMillen works for Sears Roebuck Co. Real estate handling by Rinehart Real Estate and Auction Co Flora.
The Farm Bureau District II Achievement Banquet and program will be held at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Tippecanoe County at 7 P.M. on Friday March 26. Hollis Moon Indiana Farm Bureau Organization Director will speak. Reverend Donald Hembree Radnor Methodist Church will give devotions. Entertainment from Tippecanoe and Benton Counties. Awards and door prizes will be awarded.
Mrs Paul Isaacs was admitted to Home Hospital Monday afternoon for surgery Tuesday morning.
Track coach reviews 1963 prospects with Denny Cripe and 890. Denny could join April 17 after grad period ends. Seniors Watkins and Miller lead shot put, juniors Strantz and Whiteman in shot put and hurdles. Pole vault and relays show potential. Shaeffer and Logsdon anchor vaults with Long and Hardebeck driving mile relay. A 48-man workouts roster includes 5 seniors, 13 juniors, 10 sophomores, 20 freshmen.
