Delphi suffers a major blaze gutting the Gray Hatchery on the square. The two story brick building lost its second floor starting room with over 7000 chicks and twenty brooders. Incubators on the first floor also damaged but two of three 15,000 egg units were moved to a new site. No word on total loss or rebuilding plans.

David Schock 81 lifelong Jefferson township resident and father of County Assessor Orvel Schock died at his home after a long illness. Two autos collided Friday morning at the state road 32 and 29 intersection near Lebanon. Adrian Johnson of Yorktown died from a fractured skull two hours after the crash at Witham hospital.
