Delphi suffers a major blaze gutting the Gray Hatchery on the square. The two story brick building lost its second floor starting room with over 7000 chicks and twenty brooders. Incubators on the first floor also damaged but two of three 15,000 egg units were moved to a new site. No word on total loss or rebuilding plans.

Death of Jefferson township resident David Schock at 81
David Schock 81 lifelong Jefferson township resident and father of County Assessor Orvel Schock died at his home after a long illness. He was born on the family farm, married Nancy Roach in 1877 and Emma Stoner in 1883, leaving two sons Howard and Orvel, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral at Oak Grove church with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Delphi residents injured in Lebanon crash kills Yorktown man
Two autos collided Friday morning at the state road 32 and 29 intersection near Lebanon. Adrian Johnson of Yorktown died from a fractured skull two hours after the crash at Witham hospital. Injured were Delphi residents Rob ert Roach and passengers Ray Campbell Mrs Mary Brannigan and Mrs Kathryn Mabbitt. Campbell suffered a fractured knee cap and other body bruises. Mrs Campbell, shock and bruises. Brannigan and Mabbitt cuts and bruises. Roach was uninjured except for a forehead cut. The wrecker brought Roach’s car to Delphi.
