The body of Mrs. Nancy Gardner of Burnettsville arrived from Los Angeles where she died at her son’s home. Funeral services were held in Burnettsville, and she left two sons a daughter seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her daughter Mrs Martha Galbreth traveled with the body home.
Virgil L. Hires of Warsaw Ind purchased the Welcome Inn Cafe from John Emrick and took possession last Saturday morning. Hires, an experienced restaurateur, offers a special business lunch. Emrick sold the restaurant without definite future plans but has a history of quick, successful ventures.
Steve Fleming visited Delphi yesterday with parties considering the operation of the Delphi Paper Mill. The discussions aimed to decide whether to restart or repurpose the mill with local and regional stakeholders.
At the next regular drill on Tuesday evening March 11, seventeen men will receive insignia for Expert Riflemen Sharp Shooters and Marksmen on the target range at Camp Knox. Beginning Wednesday night a series of indoor rifle matches will be held at the armory. Company F has led the regiment for two years in marksmanship.

The county junior high schools hold a basketball tournament in Camden with six boys teams and five girls teams. The day starts at 8:30 with Flora versus Yeoman boys, then 9:20 Idaville versus Young America girls, and continues through 8:20 with winners advancing to later rounds and trophy cups awarded to each champion.
Hon B F Stuart of Adams township met with officers of the Banks of the Wabash Association in Terre Haute this week. He enjoyed the conference and shared valuable historical information with the group.
A car load of apples is offered at Gingrich & Co with baskets included for 1.25 each until supplies run out. The sale emphasizes limited stock and urgency for customers to act quickly.
Delphi gains recognition in Indiana sports as its high school basketball team, coached by Sam Kerr, has won 21 of 26 games this season. The Chamber of Commerce will reward each player with a sweater and hopes Kerr returns next year. The community rallies for sectional wins at Lafayette.
Rev. LaFayette S. Buckles, pioneer Methodist minister in this Indiana region, died at 11 oclock Sunday morning at his Thorntown home at age 87 after a hip fracture from a recent ice slip. He was a familiar figure at the Battle Ground ramp meeting grounds each summer.

The high school lyceum course will be given Monday evening at eight o'clock in the gymnasium. Miss Lula Forbes will perform impersonations of notable characters and deliver readings. Admission is fifty cents for adults. the event is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary at the Arc.
Mrs James P Wason hosted a refined luncheon Tuesday afternoon for forty guests with yellow jonquil place cards and spring flower centerpieces. Mrs Wason received with Mrs Mary C Kennedy and Mrs James Cattell of Lafayette and Miss Reagan, who later performed a piano program.
Mrs J H Allen entertained officers who served in the Presb Missionary Society. The past presidentess and officers attended a pleasant dinner at her home Thursday evening. Covers were laid for twelve.
Dr Flora of Flora, Ohio, traveled to Delphi last Thursday to counter a report that he had given Thomas chloroform. The boy was in pain after a game and Thomas recovered enough to help win the tournament. A teacher claimed to have used chloroform to ease Thomas but later admitted the act was misguided. Dr Flora was exonerated as the full facts emerged.
Hinkle and Ayres of Bringhurst purchased the Wilkinson garage and will take possession today. The new firm, a threshing machine concern, is led by Charles Hinkle and Morris Ayres with Jus tus Musselman and Robert Nimmons among staff. The Wilkinsons recently traded a farm in Ohio and expect to move, likely creating a new Delphi fire chief position.
The Rev. F. R. Pitman, pastor of the Delphi Baptist church, has resigned effective June 1. Mr and Mrs Pitman have many friends in Delphi who regret his departure. Pitman is described as a young minister of great ability and is expected to seek a position in a larger field.
