Dr Edgar Stuntz Graduates From Menninger School

Dr Edgar C Stuntz son of Mr and Mrs Edgar F Stuntz graduated June 14 from the Menninger School of Psychiatry Topeka Kansas where he has been a Fellow the past three years He was the only Indiana graduate in the Class of 1958 joining twenty states and four foreign countries He is a Wabash College 1950 and Northwestern University Medical School 1954 alum He will join the U S Army with a captain’s commission at Fort Sam Houston in July and will serve in the Medical Corps His wife Ruth Crowe a Delavan Wisconsin teacher spoke at a Kansas City convention and led a workshop for teachers of retarded children.

Trap Shoot Opens Season at Carroll County Club

The Carroll County Conservation Club will hold its first monthly trap shoot of the season on Sunday June 29 starting at 12 30 at the club grounds south of Delphi. Cash prizes will be awarded. Amateurs and professionals are welcome.

Mina Jo Sweet Enrolls in Fort Wayne Secretarial Course

Mina Jo Sweet daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Sweet of Jefferson township has enrolled in the Private Secretarial course at International Business College in Fort Wayne. She is a 1958 Monticello High School graduate who attended Delphi grade school and Delphi High School for two years before the move to Lower Sunset Park.

Railroad Ordinance Clears Second Reading in City Council

During a Monday meeting the city council approved the railroad ordinance on its second reading. The measure will reach a third reading at the next session and enactment without publication. A street-closing request was denied and the Wabash railroad plans a drive-around on Wa bash. The crossing on Walnut Street will stay open per agreement with the Cope and Smith families. Cope will fund a crossing gate.

Hartke Nominated for Democratic US Senate Race

Carroll County Democrats join Indiana state delegates in Indianapolis where Evansville mayor Rupert Vance Hartke, 38, is chosen as the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate. The delegation, led by John Merrell, also supports Amos W. Jackson for supreme court judge and other statewide offices.

Prophet jury seated to hear Indiana murder case

A Tippecanoe circuit court jury was seated to hear the State of Indiana versus Glen W Prophet. After questioning 128 veniremen, 12 jurors were chosen. Sheriff C L Carey testified first and deputies John Miller and his wife are expected to testify. Prophet's accomplice John M Delk will be arraigned later.

Lewis Ward 66 Radnor Man Dies After Heart Attack

Lewis Alva Ward 66 of Radnor died Wednesday morning in St Elizabeth hospital Lafayette after a heart seizure. He was an ALCOA employee, WWI veteran, Radnor Methodist and Delphi American Legion member. Survived by Vera widow two daughters Rozella Pearson and Juanita Benefiel and a son Richard killed in WWII. Funeral Saturday at Radnor church burial Rossville cemetery.

Burlington to Stage Fourth of July Fireworks Show

The Burlington American Legion and Booster club plans a July 4 program at the Legion field starting 1 30 p m with ball games. Mary Burdine and baton twirlers perform, a public fish fry runs from 4 p m, Deer Creek Conservation club cooks the fish, and a 9 p m fireworks display follows rain or shine. If rain comes, fireworks move to Saturday July 5.

Red Cross Appeals for Disaster Funds in Indiana

Mrs. Harold Thayer, Carroll County Red Cross chairwoman, relays a telegram from the Eastern Area Disaster Chairman detailing floods affecting 23 Indiana counties. Married July 1, 1893 in Wabash, they have resided in Delphi over 30 years. They have a daughter Ethel Baker of Wabash and a son Hale at home. two sons Charles and Glen are deceased. Newell E Cox former assessor dies in Logansport

Newell E Cox 67 of Logansport and former Deer Creek assessor died Tuesday evening at Memorial hospital. Born April 4, 1891 in White County, he was a Calvary Presbyterian Church member. Surviving are widow Flossie, daughters Mrs. Dallas Edging of Oak Forest Illinois and Mrs. Robert Blevens of Seattle, sister Mrs. Esther Cox Gregg of Delphi. Mrs. Harry Hildebrand, wife of a former Delphi resident, died Monday night at her Lambertville Michigan home after a cerebral hemorrhage. She and Harry Hildebrand married in 1920 and she leaves a daughter Mrs. Iva H. Barr of Toledo, plus a brother and sister.
