Mineral mix boosts hog gains on alfalfa pasture study
A 1947 Purdue University swine farm trial shows adding limestone steamed bone meal with free salt improves rate of gain and reduces feed use for hogs on alfalfa pasture. A New York Construction Research Bureau spokesman urged full insulation in all new homes to save fuel costs amid rising prices and shortages. He cited 35 percent fuel savings with four inches of mineral wool and noted labor costs differ little between insulation thicknesses. A new baby born to Mr. and Mrs. William Kimble and visiting relatives from Michigan were also noted.
