Robert Cuthbert, chauffeur for David Sangster of Riverside Illinois, drove into thirty feet of water while parking on Lake Shaffer near Monticello. Sangster dove in, opened the car door, and pulled Cuthbert to shore then kept a pipe in his teeth. Cuthbert revived by physicians and on road to recovery as a derrick lifted the car from the water.
