Five days remain before the Democratic state convention as party leaders expect a historic gathering. Ten senatorial candidates tout delegate strength while Pat Manion predicts a bright outcome and pledges support for the Democratic ticket. Carroll County delegates plan to depart Monday for Indianapolis for convention prep.
Mary Martin 73 of Court died at Home hospital Lafayette Sunday from a fractured hip after a fall. She had prior strokes and used crutches. Funeral services were held at United Brethren church Colburn. Survived by sons O G Martin Colburn Clyde Russell Martin Indianapolis and James Russell Martin Indianapolis and daughter Maude McKinley Napoleon Ohio.
City Marshall Doxey Moore suffered a hernia injury when he slipped on the armory stairs. He was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for an operation.
Mr and Mrs Harley Mummert of Carrollton township announce the coming marriage of their daughter Wilma Mae to Robert P Early of Logansport. The ceremony is set for Sunday afternoon June 10 at Wheeling Presbyterian church with Rev O L Prentice officiating. Attendants will be Ann Mummert and Donald Murphy. Reception follows at the Mummerts home and the couple will reside in Chicago after the wedding.
Charles Bradshaw, son of Mr and Mrs W H Bradshaw Delphi, graduates with 63 seniors at Wabash College. He is among 11 Phi Beta Kappa members and seven General Honors recipients, and one of two juniors elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He belongs to French Spanish German Clubs, played in the college band, and served on Bachelor staff. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1930, age 21, plans Delphi summer.
Miss Naomi Pruitt daughter of Judge E E Pruitt and a Delphi high school teacher married Herman A Theophile of Chicago at the home of Rev William Grant Smith in South Delphi. The bride a DePauw graduate who has taught since 1926 will not teach here next year. Theophile works for Seidel and Sons and is moving between Georgia and Florida. newlyweds left for Georgia after the ceremony.
Delphi beat Monticello 11 to 4 at Monticello Sunday afternoon as Johnson and Vitter each scored three runs. Delphi totaled 18 hits to Monticello's 9 in the three run series opener at the local park.
The Lafayette Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Women met at Delphi Catholic Community Center for a regular gathering. About 75 women attended as Miss Nora Turner welcomed delegates and Mrs. Ball presided. Cecelia Carroll Rozella Clark and Alice Harrington, winners of the St. Francis high school public speaking contest, were introduced. Visiting clergy included Rev. Gabriel Lingert, Lafayette, Father Hardeman, Frankfort, and Rev. Clifford Reed.
Farmers Union public meeting will occur at the Bringhurst Indiana school house on Tuesday evening June 12 at 8 p m. Public invited.
Burrows police report a car taken Friday night from a garage owned by Floyd Shafer. Nearby, Mrs Verd Thompson, patient at St Elizabeth hospital, is listed as improved in condition.

Wilbur Grantham of Adams Township assists the State Conservation Department by supplying bass from his ponds for local streams. The effort is funded and coordinated by the County Rod and Gun Club and rears bass for distribution to the department.

The Delphi and Frankfort country club teams will compete in the season’s first golf tournament at the local country club on Sunday. The event starts promptly at 1 15 PM and all members are requested to be present.

Mr and Mrs Isaac Farmer of near Burrows celebrated their fifty ninth wedding anniversary with relatives and friends at a surprise party attended by 48. The couple, ages 82 and 80, live on a small farm north of Burrows and enjoy good health. Doctor E D Wagoner, longtime family physician, spoke at the gathering.
Mrs Ella Jones 83 longtime Deer Creek area resident died Saturday at her son Fred’s home east of Camden following a May 27 stroke. She was the widow of A B Jones and is survived by two daughters Mrs Charles Appleton and Mrs Lawrence Herr, three sons Ralph Harry and Fred, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were led by Rev Elmer Kahl of Camden at the Deer Creek Lutheran.
Dale Young, a student barber at the Hoshaw shop for several years, has secured a position at the Henry Davis shop in Flora. He plans to attend barber school in Chicago this fall. John Smith has succeeded him at the Hoshaw shop.
Miss Alberta Leslie and Donald Day of Delphi were married Saturday evening at the M E parsonage by Rev. Wilbur Day. The groom is employed at a nursery in Benton Harbor Michigan.

County Treasurer Robert Johnson releases the current and delinquent tax report. Total taxes and interest paid amount to 236 991 47, unchanged from last year. Current and delinquent real estate from Jan 1 to May 7 totals 219 548 80. Delinquent real estate from Nov 7 to Jan 1 and personal delinquency from Nov 7 to May 7 total 15 826 57, with interest on all delinquents at 1 616 10. Johnson cites delayed corn hog checks as a partial cause and expects many taxpayers to pay once checks arrive. Amounts paid by 13 townships and 4 corporations follow.

Ephriam W. Hendrix won a damage suit in circuit court with a verdict of 378.40. State Farm Mutual Insurance Co. received 302.72 of the award. The automobile collision occurred Jan 30, 1931, ten miles northeast of Kokomo involving Hendrix’s car and a Kirkpatrick truck. Attorneys for both sides are named. Lois McCain of Delphi is one of 18 Indiana musicians selected for a 1934-35 Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music scholarship in Indianapolis. The award covers free instruction at Butler University with cello study under Adolph Schelischmidt.
Among those attending the Republican State Convention in Indianapolis on Tuesday were Vern Brown Leo Ulm Ed Smock B E B Maykill Malon Kerlin and Jesse Clawson. Miss June Scott suffered a broken hip fell yesterday morning and was taken to the Home hospital in the Grimm ambulance last night. Adam Grimm returned today from Martinsville where he had been taking treatments.
