The Carroll County 4H Fair seeks funds for a new dressing room for the girls in Flora at the 4H Fairgrounds. Home Demonstration Clubs and the Extension Office staff urge donations to support the Dress Revue and Queen Contest. More than 700 youths and about 50 adults are involved in 4H activities, with plans for improved facilities next year.

Raymond Holloway, 54, died Wednesday morning at his home in Tillamook, Oregon after a prolonged illness and a stroke weeks earlier. He is survived by his widow Evelyn, a daughter Carolyn, two sons James and Albert, two sisters Mrs. Glen Weckerly of Lafayette and Mrs. Mabel Kennard of Delphi, and two brothers Ross of Delphi and Verlin Pat of Monticello. Relatives traveled from Indiana to Oregon to visit.
Morris D. Skiles of the Union Insurance Agency in Delphi has received word from the Society of Appraisers confirming he passed the appraisal examination.
Carroll County Christian Youth Council sponsors a Vesper service in the Show Ring at the 4H Fair from 7:30 to 8:30 Friday evening August 6. Delphi's Hootin Annies and Paul Smith perform on the program. The Council also plans a paper drive on September 11.
State Detective Dale MaCu and Deputy Sheriff Wayne Swaim investigate a Burlington break in where a door was forced open and a chain damaged. The safe and a filing cabinet were ransacked but nothing valuable appears missing.
Carroll County graduates attended the Pur due University class titled How to Study in College directed by Professor E. G. Griffin. Sixty participants found the challenging sessions worthwhile and enjoyable.
County Clerk Frank Wilcox issues a marriage license to Christopher C Schultz 20 and Katheryn Faye Crone 18 Delphi.
John Witt, 45, of Route 2 Delphi says a car emerged from a side road and crowded him off Highway 421 Saturday afternoon. He was taken to a local hospital with lacerations and treated for damage to the motorcycle.
The Carroll County Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Co op annual picnic will be held Thursday August 5 at 12 noon in the Flora Community Building. 4 H boys and girls will be dinner guests with entertainment after dinner from Talent Fund contestants. Everyone invited to bring a well filled basket and support the 4 H Fair.
Mrs Mildred Shockley of Camden was transported by Sullivan ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Logansport on Sunday for medical treatment.
At the Delphi Community School Board meeting in their new quarters on North Union Street, letters from local residents requesting transfer of high school students to Carroll Consolidated were read and a special meeting was planned. The board approved travel for Home Ec teachers to a State Vocational Conference at IU mid August with expenses covered by the Vocational Department and authorized eight cent per mile reimbursements for principals attending approved meetings. Superintendent Weddell was asked to explore hiring an attendance officer and to report on costs to asphalt and stone a 60 by 90 foot strip at Hillcrest at the next session.
Seventeen 4-H Fair hopefuls will be judged on personality at a Saturday evening banquet hosted by Flora Business Boosters. The Fair Queen will be crowned Monday night August 2 at the Fair. Candidates include Shirley Eller Sedonna Reames Gayle Ann Davis Debbie Mann Kathy Shriver Betty Hendrix Pam Hutson Tonya Harness Debbie Gray Suellen Beale Ann Benner Elaine Britton Kathy Catron Jackie Walters Darla Roberts Debbie Sisson and Robin Wray.

Bob Packard, son of Mr and Mrs Marvin Packard, acts in the Little Theater O the Lakes troupe. From July 22 to 24 the company performed Dirty Work at the Crossroads at Tippecanoe Country Club Red Barn to a sellout crowd with Packard in the Moo kie role. Directed by David Lottes, the group includes Delphi area residents and welcomes new members.
Thirty one players tackled heat at Carroll County Country Club for the Ladies Invitational Bankers Handicap. Guests included Hazelton Kentland and Tippecanoe Monticello reps. Ruth Ault of Tip posted low gross 46. Mary Orr and Teddy Gamble tied low net 43.
Erroll Ehrman 23 of Rt. 1 Cutler and John Adam 34 of Rt. 1 Bringhurst were in an accident on Highway 29 in Burlington Township Thursday. Ehrman slowed to turn right. Adam veered into the ditch to avoid a collision and could not pass on the left. Adam’s car damage estimated at $700. State Trooper Donnie Davis and Deputy Sheriff Wayne Swaim investigated.
Mr and Mrs Calvin Carey plan a Sunday departure for a vacation with their daughter and her family in Albuquerque New Mexico.
