The Wabash and Monon Railroads finish a major upgrade costing hundreds of thousands of dollars in Delphi. Automatic signals will cover all major crossings, the Monon Wabash cross over will move east of Washington, and the tower will be removed. Two main tracks remain with a siding for the Whiteman Brothers elevator. Work, by month’s end and by August 15 for signaling, shifts switching east of the city limits. John Clifford Updegraff 65, trustee of Washington township, died Tuesday at his Logansport home after a heart attack. Born September 29 1892 in Cass county, he served as a Republican trustee since 1954 and was active in Masonry. Survived by widow Caroline and son Rev John A Updegraff of Dayton Ohio. Funeral set for Friday at Mt Pisgah Lutheran church. Burial in Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.

Three In City Court Plead Guilty In Delphi
In city court Friday morning George Heathcote of Delphi pled guilty to third degree burglary and received a 60 day sentence at the Indiana State Farm plus a $16 fine. Gabriel Scott of Delphi pled guilty to disorderly conduct and, after admitting another charge of carrying a dangerous weapon, was fined $25 on each count. William Isley of Colburn faced DUI, public intoxication and improper vehicle registration. he pled not guilty and his case was moved to Carroll circuit court.

Bizarre wreck claims life of Delphi woman
A Delphi woman, Eva Mohr Ives, died after a crash southwest of Americus on State Road 25. Her husband Myron Ives was injured and hospitalized in fair condition. The accident involved two Tippecanoe county trucks driven by Dean Rayburn and Harry Ray Saubert. Police described the wreck as bizarre and noted brake failure contributed to the collision. Ives funeral services were set for 2:00 PM at Jackson funeral home with burial in Masonic cemetery.
