At Tuesday night session the Delphi City Council discussed the upcoming budget and authorized minor actions. The group plans to finalize budget plans at the next meeting and approved cemetery stone placement on avenues in Morning Heights Cemetery.
Zibe Redding 89 a native of Carroll courtly died last Thursday at the National Soldiers Home in Washington D C where he had resided for months after falling and fracturing a hip He was born May 28 1863 and married to Katie Dasher The family moved to Indianapolis in 1917 and he later lived with a daughter in Washington Surviving are daughter Mrs Charles B Lee two sons James A Beech Grove and William Logansport A nephew Haughey Mount Delphi Funeral rites were held Monday in Indianapolis with burial there.
Winners in the bicycle race and contest held last Wednesday were announced by Bob Miller. Joan Coomey and Bob Delaney won prizes for the best decorated bicycles and for the most unusual decorations. Races were won by Wanda Wray Bob Delaney Joann Coomey Jim Cope Carol Hawn Jim Blythe with several runners up and prize placements in newspaper race ring toss relay and other events.
Carroll County will send Marilyn Newby Joyce Caldwell and Olive Carr to the State Fair School from August 26 to September 6. Alternates are Connie Chittick Anita Douglas and Joyce Meek. Selection based on total projects in Home Ec 4 H work quality of work attitude and leadership ability. Two girls sponsored by the County Home Economics association and one by the Junior 4 H Junior Leaders organization.
Tom Peters was elected president of the Hilltoppers at the annual picnic last night at the John Smith home. John Pastor won the vice presidency Frances Gripe was chosen secretary and Frank Wilcox with Martha Schooler named historian.
Mrs Keith Collins of Indianapolis is spending a few days with Mrs Mary Haugh and her sons in a local visit.
Temperatures to run 2 to 4 degrees below normal for five days with a rising trend Friday and cooler conditions by Sunday. Light showers are expected over the weekend as the pattern shifts.
Miss Julie Smith daughter of Judge and Mrs William B Smith of Delphi will wed Kenneth in a Sunday July 20 ceremony at the Delphi Methodist Church at 2 30 pm. The wedding party includes Mrs Robert Carl Smith of Indianapolis as matron of honor and bridesmaids Helen Cleaver and Joan Groninger. Best man is Herman Pyle with ushers Robert and Richard Smith. A church reception will follow.
Three people were injured, none seriously, and a goat was killed in a weekend of accidents reported to Sheriff Carey. Injured were Medford Harmon 18 Cutler driver of a 1940 Plymouth Phyllis Ann Rees 15 and Katheryn Stevenson 16. An additional collision occurred on State highway 421 involving Sam Minardo Monticello and Villadean Shultz Lafayette. Total damage $110. Saturday night Paul Berry 33 of Delphi reported his car struck a goat near the Greenwalt residence Ada Township.
Joseph T. Ives placed first in the July 4th Handicap Tourney at the local country club. Bob Schooler and Bob VanNatta took second and third. Blind hole prizes went to Bob Logan Tom Peters Don Welker and Charles Shank. Welker posted the day’s low gross 38. Family day drew 70 plus attendees. Committee members included Mr. and Mrs. George Schnepp Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flora Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shank and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown.
The last will of Charles Beck who died in January in Ottawa Illinois has been filed for probate in Carroll circuit court. The will directs transfer of a 240 acre farm in the county to his daughter Sarah Alice Beck with Ralph Hanna representing the estate.
Louise Nagele daughter of Mr and Mrs Gray Nagele of east of Delphi has accepted a teaching post in Logansport schools. She is a Delphi high school graduate and Indiana University alumna.
The Woman’s Christian Temperance Union holds a meeting on July 15 at 7 30 p m hosted by Miss Anna Hardy. Members are invited to gather at Hardy’s residence for the session.
Burton Honan of Ockley named temporary chairman to organize Indiana Committee for Agricultural Progress. The group aims to unite farmers across parties to support farm programs, oppose price support sliding scales, and promote strong legislation amid concerns over rural electrification and soil conservation. Honan will meet Chicago platform committee during the Democratic National Convention to outline plans.
Plans for the Carroll County 4 H Fair and Festival run July 28 through August 2 at Flora Park. Events include a county fire department water fight July 28, Carroll County Musical Festival and tal ent nights July 29 30, cattle auction July 31 with Ralph Rinehart as auctioneer, free round and square dancing July 31, and Dixie Four quartette on July 2? plus Shady Acres gang for Friday dance.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dot Musselman 64 were held Tuesday at the Carter funeral home. The Rev. P J Hamilton officiated with burial in Maple Lawn cemetery. She died Sunday at Memorial hospital Logansport after a brief illness. Born April 2 1888 in Bringhurst she was the daughter of George and Florence Trent. Her marriage to Glenn L Musselman on December 10 1910 preceded his death in 1950. She belonged to Flora Methodist church. Surviving: daughter Mrs Sydney Thomson of Flora and sisters Mrs Earl Jordan of Flora and Mrs Julien Sharpnack of Columbus Indiana.
Bill Hannell, a former resident, is a patient at a Methodist hospital after a highway crash near Lebanon on June 30. His car was struck by a tractor and trailer loaded with high explosives while traveling north on Highway 52. he suffered multiple broken ribs a broken arm and internal injuries. The truck and Hannell were in a four lane highway collision.
An 4-H adult leaders meeting will be held Monday evening July 14 at 8 30 p m daylight saving time in the County Extension Office.

Logansport police seek 16 year old Karen Fessler Fester who has been missing for several days. Relatives indicate she was visiting her aunt Katherine Townsend in Logansport when she disappeared. Foster claims estrangement from her husband.
The 38th Infantry Division plans its fifth all summer field training at Camp Grayling Michigan from July 27 to August 10. About 8,000 officers and men from over 100 units in more than 60 Hoosier cities will participate in 15 days of rugged instruction and realism. Co B 293rd Infantry of Delphi joins the camp movement by Army truck and commercial bus, with major drills in recruit training arms handling small unit tactics and admin and supply efficiency. Highlights include a bivouac perimeter defense a division review August 2 and a medical battalion demonstration of casualty treatment and evacuation.
Five community boys enter the district soap box derby in Logansport on Wednesday July 16. The winner advances to the National Derby later this summer. Self made vehicles will be inspected at WSE Chevrolet Sales in Logansport Saturday. Two Burlington residents reported a break in over the weekend. Thieves took over 100 dollars, a piggy bank, and salt and pepper shakers from Richard Bausum home. A piggy bank with two dollars and shakers were taken at the same time. At Wayne Swarm home thieves removed a hundred dollars from a calendar on the wall. State police assist with investigation.
Delphi performer Jerry Daniels and Flora star Sandra Cassell will headline three shows at Shady Acres Ranch on Sunday afternoon July 18. The performances are slated for 1:30 4:30 and 7:30 p m.
Mrs Hattie Ayres aged 101, who suffered a fractured nose and other injuries when her wheel chair ran off the steps of her home last week, was discharged Monday from Memorial hospital in Logansport.

Dot Musselman of Flora left jewelry and household effects to daughter Jewell Musselman Thomson with a life estate in all real and personal property. Upon Thomson’s death the estate goes to her children. Thomson named executrix, filed bond of 25000, estate valued at 12500 personal and 32000 real. Attorney for administratrix is A. D. Bishop. Will dated October 7, 1950.
An independent baseball team is being formed in Delphi under Ed Nordahl the local school teacher. Local businesses and citizens back the effort with John Klepinger as treasurer. Prospects include Paul O Farrel Don Hathaway Bob Draper Pat O Farrel Jack Goslee Max Hughes Bob Miller Quentin Clem Max Andrews Forrest Brehmer Charles Myers Earl Pauley and Ed Nordahl. Tryouts welcome with twilight games planned on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Mary Rice 69 of route 4 Delphi died Thursday morning at St Elizabeth hospital after a brief illness. Born in Tippecanoe county she lived many years in Carroll county and was a member of Colburn Lutheran church. Her husband Charles B Rice died in 1948. Survived by a son Charles A Rice at home funeral rites were held Saturday at Jackson funeral home Delphi with Rev B L Stroup and Rev J B Gardner officiating burial in Lutheran cemetery Colburn.
Miss Margaret Harner of Delphi buys the Ratcliff Hotel Coffee Shop from Robert Ratcliff and takes over management. The new owner says the cafe will operate 24 hours daily seven days a week.
A wagon loaded with baled hay was partially destroyed by a fire Saturday afternoon near the Franklin Drive-In in West Delphi. The hay was pulled by a tractor driven by Max Peterson. Sparks from the exhaust are blamed for igniting the hay.
James R Himbert of Yeoman was arrested Tuesday night by Sheriff Sparkey Carey after being absent without leave from Fort Jackson South Carolina since Monday. Military authorities visited the jail on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Inez Clifton fifty two 72 of route one Camden is hospitalized at Memorial after a collision on road 18 near Maple Lawn cemetery. Her car rolled twice and struck the cemetery iron fence before being loaded into Leiter ambulance. Clifton served as Carroll County deputy sheriff after her husband Bert Clifton died. he was the county sheriff.
L. D. Viney a 63 year old resident of Delphi and Yeoman died of a heart attack found by his grandson Jerry Crone at his daughter Mrs Charles Crone’s home in Delphi at 3 pm Wednesday. Born July 3 1889 in Yeoman he was the son of Charles and Mary Viney. He married Sadie Austin in 1913. Survived by widow two daughters two grandchildren three brothers four sisters and a brother in law. Funeral will be at Jackson funeral home Friday at 2 pm with Yeoman cemetery burial.
A soils study meeting for Vocational agriculture teachers will be held Wednesday July 16 at 830 in the morning on the W. A. Huntsinger farm tenants Carl Jester located south of Flora. The Carroll County Soil Conservation District leads planning for a county land judging contest for FFA and 4 H club members to be held in October with Kenneth Pyle Ned Hutchinson and Don Klausas in charge.
Frank Lantz of south of town fractured his ankle Monday afternoon while baling wheat straw at the Pete Fischer farm. He was brought to a local physician by his son Evan and Pete Fischer, then transported to St. Elizabeth hospital.
The infant son of Sgt. and Mrs. James Clawson of 429 Union St Lafayette died Friday at Home hospital Lafayette. Born June 29 the child was the couple already resided here. mother now lives in Lafayette with her mother Mrs Nye Ridgeway.
Teachers and parents of Pittsburg school will meet Monday night July 14 at 8 p m at the school. Committee in charge includes Mr and Mrs Kenneth Purcell Mr and Mrs Robert Jarrett and Mr and Mrs Raymond Temple. Refreshments will be served.

Lewis Mullin of near Burrows rents offices in the Theophile building on Main Street to practice law. The rooms were previously used by E. E. Pruitt and Hanna and Hanna. Mullin, IU Law graduate, served in World War II and is the Democratic candidate for Carroll County prosecuting attorney.
The Carroll County Board of Commissioners awarded Clauser Coal Company of Delphi a one year contract to furnish coal to the county home jail and courthouse. The meeting also heard delegations requesting blacktop roads.
