At the July session of the commissioners court bids for the George Peterson et al road in Adams township were opened and then rejected. The bids ranged from 7,946.45 to 9,495 with several bidders from Kokomo Lafayette Rockfield and Frankfort. The road will be re advertised.
Mrs. Jennie Wolf learns of her daughter-in-law Mrs. Harry Wolf of Ashtabula Ohio suffering heat exposure and blindness. Eleanor Wolf visits grandmother and Catherine McDowell then returns home to aid her mother. Mr. and Mrs. E O Grimm plan to move into the apartment above J B Dickison Grocery as A Grimm and Sons Funeral Home takes over. Seth Christian arrested near Cutler on public intoxication, pleads guilty and is fined 25 dollars plus 42 dollars costs after a car crash. Mrs. Merton Baird visits Huntington WV with sister Mrs. H G Toole and son Robert. Baird to drive there. Mrs. Mary E Townsend of Detroit daughter of Willard Reed hosted by Harry Reed and Mrs. F A Reed at noon and dinner. Mr. and Mrs. U S Gardner of Camden and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Gardner of East Chicago visit Miles T Martin family. Margaret Lucy Martin travels back for a two-week visit. Robert Clifford, 13, discharged from Rockville sanitarium after four years. father retrieves him. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowers move from Sterling to West Front Street adjoining C E B Angell property. Fred Wheeler and son Don plus Mrs. Howard Bradshaw in Indianapolis for Ford Dealers meeting. Bobby Baum undergoes tenail operation at St Elizabeth hospital. Mrs. Everett Scott returns from Laf ayette hospital. Van C Blue of Carrollton township will attend a conference in Delphi Sunday. Mrs. Allie Vail of Pacoma Washington visits Oregon Miles.
Charles N. Odell purchased the Riley Park Cafe on south Washington street from Elton Wilson and took possession Sunday. Wilson, employed by Indiana Service Corporation, has been transferred to Peru. Odell, a Delphi resident, has long worked in the cafe field and will be joined by Eunice Greenup who remains as staff.
The Second District Democrat meeting moves to Lake Maxinkuckee Culver on Thursday afternoon July 23 rather than July 25. Tom McConnell district chairman issued the notice. Delph McKesson and J C Whitesell head arrangements with Culver Military Academy grounds via Hon Henry Barnhart to give principal address. Democratic officers will attend. The new district covers portions of old ninth tenth and thirteenth districts. Carroll County Democrats plan to attend.
The Christian Sunday School team moved atop the Twilight League by beating the Presbyterians 5 to 0 as Baptists were idle. Catholics rose to third with a 10 to 2 win over the Methodists last Thursday.
Logansport games summary lists Grocers 16 over Yeoman 3 and Camden with Delphi 3. Sharpsville defeats Delphi 9 4. Fowler Legion 4 beats Delphi Legion 2. Christians 5 defeats Presbyterians 0. Catholics 10 over Methodists 2.
The Junior American Legion base ball team won its first game of the season by defeating Brookston 16 to 1 on Wednesday afternoon. The squad had previously lost to Fowler 4 to 2 last Sunday due to errors.
Paul Rule of Madson township was named among twenty two new Indiana state police hires approved by Secretary of State Frank Mayr and Chief Grovert Garrett. The additions bring total force to sixty with Rule assigned to district three based at Tipton under Lt. Louks, covering Fulton Cass Miami Wabash Howard Beara.
Over one hundred Stinebaugh relatives gathered at Delphi city park for the annual reunion. Attendees came from Lafayette Indianapolis Frankfort Mulberry Fort Wayne and other Indiana points. Out of state guest Mr and Mrs Eugene Morris and son from Verona Ohio attended. A business session was held in the afternoon with Rev J G Stinebaugh of Flora presiding. The reunion will be held again at Delphi park next year.
John K. Stair of Mulberry, a licensed pilot, will be at the landing field half a mile south of Delphi on state road 89 all day Sunday. He will take up passengers for 14 dollars per person in a Waco aircraft, offering longer trips than usual for the low price.
Hugo Simann of Esthenia and Blahoslav Rejcirt of Czechoslovakia attend the Worlds Youth Congress in Toronto and visit the Indiana YMCA. They are camping at Camp Tecumseh and plan to travel to Camp Crosley near Muncie for a few days.

Miss Fillde Cased of Jefferson township returns to her work in Ko komo on Sunday after a young peoples conference in I Dia. She suffered a broken rib and a fall causing her injuries since arriving home, including an incident in Defiance.

Cliff Dwellers held their 11th annual picnic with a supper and program. Long tables carried viands while six lines of attendees chose from dishes. The program featured invocation by Rev E C Wells, orchestra with Eddie Godenour, Mrs John Todd in charge, welcome by Mayor Yanus Wells, newcomers welcome by Paul Lostutter, responses by Fred Sites, minutes read by Fern Wenning, and treasurer Grant Smith.
Local threshermen set threshing rates for the 1931 grain crop with 4 and 5 cents per bushel for wheat 2 and 3 cents for oats and 5 and 6 cents for rye. six combines in the county including Fouts Brothers Dietz Shaffer Newell Bell and Wetzell will thresh wheat at 2.50 per acre. county wheat yields are projected at 20 to 37 bushels per acre and much straw is expected with threshing not yet started.
The formal opening of the new bath house at the Riley Park swimming pool is set for next Wednesday afternoon. Businesses will close for the program and a band concert will be part of the events. William Heflong leads the bath house, with a new fee plan: free access on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday until noon. ten cents on certain days. 15 cents for suit rental. Children under 10 admitted free. Local donors include Robert J. Gamble for entrance stones and J. I. Case Tractor Co. for baseball diamond leveling and track work with demonstrations at area farms.
Country Club officials announce Reed C. Schermerhorn will serve Sunday dinner at the clubhouse. Price is 50 cents and orders must be phoned by Friday night. Logansport County Club to send a golf team for a Sunday match. Delphi club ladies host visiting ladies. Charles Wilson won the July 4th Handicap with net 72. Roy Caldwell second. Brent Cripe third. Harry Reed fourth. John Mount fifth. Bowen Robinson tied for low gross at 9. Robinson won driving contest. Floyd Julien tied with Paul Quick for putting honors. Paul Lostutter won the June ringer tourney with a score of 32.
Funeral services were held Monday at St Joseph Catholic Church for Mrs William Lane age 73 of Delphi who died Friday at home. She is survived by her husband who is critically ill and three daughters Mrs Will Stankard Delphi Mrs Tom Broadrick Frankfort and Mrs Flora Strube Lafayette eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and sister Mrs Anna Keouth Logansport.
Daughter of Mrs Evith Anderson of Delphi and Earl Ginn of Detroit were united in marriage Monday morning at nine o clock at the home of Rev. C. J. Grimes of the Presbyterian church.

Alvina Killigrew of Lake, Minnie Chenoweth of Randolph, and Francis Beane of Noble faced pressure from officers and Governor’s office to comply by June 30.
