Mothers Lead Polio Fund Drive In Carroll County

Mothers in Carroll County plan Monday night marches in Flora Delphi and Camden to raise funds for the March of Dimes. Delphi workers start at 4 p.m. with siren signals while residents are asked to light porch lamps to show donations. Camden volunteers meet at 6 p.m. at Mrs Eugene Willy home. Flora Home Economics clubs also conduct drives.

Nick Kite Charged With Public Intoxication

State Patrolman Dale Douglass arrested Nick Kite Friday on a public intoxication charge after finding him in a ditch along highway 421 south of town. He was arraigned in city court Monday and ordered to stay out of town for six months.

County Auditor Receives Q1 Gas Tax Check

County Auditor Ada Roach reports a $43,672.17 State allocation as the county's share of gas tax for the first quarter. The figure compares with $48,340.62 for the same period last year.

Charley Gibson, 94, a veteran of the U S Militia who fought alongside frontier forces in the 1870s and 1880s, attempted suicide with a straight razor on his sister in law's porch. He was saved by a blood transfusion at St Elizabeth hospital and to be released soon. He may enter the Lafayette Soldiers Home.

Miss Shirley Eis a Delphi High School senior won first place in the oral declamation event at Indiana State Teachers College annual high school speech tournament in Terre Haute.
