The Indiana legislature may fund 18 armories with Delphi ranked 16th on the priority list if budget cuts stay modest. Superintendent Royce Kurtz reported national appetite for armory construction and warned Delphi could be dropped if economies bite.
Mothers in Carroll County plan Monday night marches in Flora Delphi and Camden to raise funds for the March of Dimes. Delphi workers start at 4 p.m. with siren signals while residents are asked to light porch lamps to show donations. Camden volunteers meet at 6 p.m. at Mrs Eugene Willy home. Flora Home Economics clubs also conduct drives.
State Patrolman Dale Douglass arrested Nick Kite Friday on a public intoxication charge after finding him in a ditch along highway 421 south of town. He was arraigned in city court Monday and ordered to stay out of town for six months.
County Auditor Ada Roach reports a $43,672.17 State allocation as the county's share of gas tax for the first quarter. The figure compares with $48,340.62 for the same period last year.

Charley Gibson, 94, a veteran of the U S Militia who fought alongside frontier forces in the 1870s and 1880s, attempted suicide with a straight razor on his sister in law's porch. He was saved by a blood transfusion at St Elizabeth hospital and to be released soon. He may enter the Lafayette Soldiers Home.
Miss Shirley Eis a Delphi High School senior won first place in the oral declamation event at Indiana State Teachers College annual high school speech tournament in Terre Haute. The two day meet drew about 150 speakers from 18 schools, with Delphi students claiming multiple top finishes and the sweepstakes trophy for high school dominance.
A notice explains two trustee reports were mixed with page-form type. It states Henry Hobaugh and Edna Dow amounts belong to the other township, Liberty and Tippecanoe, and that both reports will be repeated next week in corrected form.

The Auxiliary of Harry Bohan post 75 announces the annual ham and bean supper for February 8 at the Legion home. Proceeds support community activities. Tickets are 1 dollar per person with all you can eat for 1.60 dollars.
Dr. Harold Smith of Purdue spoke at the county extension annual meeting about Carroll County population trends 1890 to 1950 and farming changes. Charles Black was elected to a five year term on the executive committee amid a list of extension members and attendees.
County Recorder Ann Johnson issues her 1954 annual report detailing office activity. Deeds: 230 city, 447 rural. Auditor filed 2 deeds. Total money involved 306,826. Mortgage activity covers city and rural properties, chattel mortgages, liens, and releases totaling millions. Releases include city and rural mortgages, chattel loans, and mechanic's liens with a combined value over four million dollars.
Delphi students Wildlass and Os Wingard receive promotions in DePauw University's Air Force ROTC detachment. Commandant Lt. Col. F A Sanders notes the promotions with Wingard listed as the son of Mr and Mrs J E Wingard of 813 EB Main St.
The Delphi Lions name Miss Byrum of Newcastle Indiana as Cheer Club member of the week. She turns 65 on Sunday January 30 and has lived at the State Sanitorium for 13 years. She is the daughter of Perry Byrum of Rockfield. Friends are urged to send cards letters small gifts and messages of cheer during the week and on her birthday.
Donald J. Bolinger sues Frank and Gertrude Howard in Carroll circuit court for 148.98 dollars in damages from a real estate transaction. Bolinger and Zirkle appear as representatives for the plaintiff.
