Yall Come Fair Fitness Fans At High School Gym

The notice invites women to a physical fitness class at the high school gym on Tuesday evening at 8. A Soil and Water School connected to Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District 165th annual meeting will be at the REMC auditorium on February 5 starting at 9:30 A.M. Eldon Hood of Purdue will discuss fertilizers and soil lab use followed by a noon luncheon with local dealers. The 15th Annual meeting and supervisor election proceed at 12:30 with talks on watershed progress and fall vs spring plowing.

Delphi Lions Cheer Club Names Wick Brown Member

The Delphi Lions Cheer Club selected Wick Brown of Route 4 Delphi as this week’s member. Brown is a patient in recom 211 at Home Hospital Lafayette recovering from a stroke two weeks ago and may receive short visitors. Dr. and Mrs. Richard Hatton have moved from Houston to Napa California where Dr. Hatton has joined a radiology clinic after residency.

Henry B Wilson Named Director Emeritus at First Federal

Henry B Wilson honored as Director Emeritus of First Federal Savings and Loan Association at a January 20 1965 stockholders meeting. He served as Peoples Building and Loan director since 1914 and as President from 1925 to 1961, later stepping down as President and Vice President before retirement. He has been a key Delphi civic leader and IU graduate.

REMC selects director nominees for 1965 district elections

REMC nomination meetings in five districts set the stage for the March 18 annual meeting. One director will be elected by ballot with floor nominations. Nominees recorded include District 1 J Dale Maxwell District 2 Robert Mills District 6 Robert Wingard District 8 Dennis Porter and District 13 Coy C Shanks. Robert Mills replaces retiring Artie Million after 21 years. A portable TV was given at each meeting. Winners named: W E Gardner Lawrence Douglas Truman Plank Cecil Dyer Don Brosman.

After 21 years as a REMC director Artie Million retires to bring in young energy. He rarely missed a meeting and offered advice and solid opinions to less experienced peers. Robert Mills was nominated to fill the vacancy at the recent meeting.

Carroll County Tuberculosis Association Meets in Court House

The Carroll County Tuberculosis Association met January 18 in the T B office at the Court House with ten board members. Attendees included James Hertling Dr. Eldon Baker and Mrs Ruth Kirkpatrick. Treasurer Mrs Frank Fitch reported 2305.00 from the seal sale as secretary Mrs Earl Albregts read last minutes. The group noted 762 chest x rays were given during the mobile unit visit and planned a special meeting to revise the constitution and by-laws.

Hanna Promoted to Foreman at Delco Radio Quality Control

Robert J. Hanna known as Joe rises from junior accountant in the Cost Department to foreman in the Quality Control Department at Delco Radio. Director A N Jonsson announced the promotion as Hanna joins the North Plant after joining Delco Radio in March 1963. He is the son of Mrs. Robert Hanna and the late Mr. Hanna and holds a B S in general business from Indiana State Teachers College after graduating from Delphi High School.

Valparaiso U Music Group Here Tuesday

Valparaiso University Concert Wind Ensemble, a 47 member group, will give a concert Tuesday afternoon at Delphi High School as part of its two tour run for the school year. Prof Norman L Hannewald directs. The program blends Wagner to Berlioz with Bernstein and Morton Gould selections. John Betz of Chesterton will solo clarinet in Weber. The concert opens with Lohengrin Prelude and ends with lighter marches. The Hunt will feature a post horn solo.

Coop Annual Meet To Be March 4

The Carroll Farm Bureau Cooperative will hold its annual meeting and director elections on Thursday March 4 at Carroll High School Cafetorium at 7:30 P.M. One director from each of the four townships Madison Jackson Clay and Monroe will be elected for a three year term. Speaker Henry Shriver of Grafton Ohio a farmer philosopher and businessman in overalls will address the gathering.

Chamber of Commerce Banquet Speaker to Address Delphi Event

Mr. T D Gillett of Cleveland Ohio Industrial Agent for the Norfolk and Western Railway will be principal speaker at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet Monday evening January 25. The merger of six railways into a large system is noted with N and W serving 14 states and 65 million people. Directors urge business representation and reservations with Miss Dorthea Shaffer.

Of this, 4897.81 was sent to CROP Indianapolis on December 31 leaving 54.00 balance. An extra 87.30 came from Peters Revington Manufacturing and Dean Todd Seed Company.

Buck Creek Boy Receives God and Country Scout Award

In the Lee Stone Justice of the Peace court this week Philip W. Bandy of Lafayette was fined $5.00 with costs $17.75 for reckless conduct. Benjamin L. Misenheimer Jr. of Covington was fined $1.00 with $17.75 costs for improper passing. Richard M. Bronson of Burlington was fined $5.00 with $17.75 costs for improper passing.

Oracle Football Team Receives National Award

The undefeated 1964 Oracle football squad is selected for a national honor by Gridiron Champs of America. The award includes a certificate, a full page magazine feature, and display in the gym trophy cases. Criteria cover coaching, records, school spirit, sportsmanship, leadership, and athletic ability.

City Council Authorizes Desk Purchase and Trip Expenses

At Monday night’s meeting the City Clerk treasurer was authorized to buy a desk for the Water Works office and approve expenses for Glen Harner’s trip to the State Water Convention. Health insurance for city employees and a new Addressograph machine were discussed but no action was taken on those items.

Delphi Oracles Dominate Northwestern In 83-60 Victory

Delphi Oracles cruised to an 83-60 win over Northwestern in the local gym, extending their win streak to five. Steve Hancock led a strong defense with 16 rebounds while Dave Bowen and Dave Rishel contributed scoring and control in a one sided conference clash.
