George Knight 81 of Rockfield died Friday evening at 5 20. He was born and reared in Cass county and is survived by children Chester Knight Forrest Knight Raymond Knight Mrs Dora Deford Mrs Rose Shockey Mrs Mildred Soutl and Claude Knight. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 30 in the Grimm funeral home Delphi with Rev Don Emire and Rev Jacoby presiding. Burial was in the Rockfield I O O F cemetery.

Five Carroll County Men Leave for Year's Training
Five Carroll county volunteers reported for induction under the selective service system. Arthur McDowell and Thomas Mayhill of Delphi, Clarence Siple of Flora, Charles Cobble of Camden, and Henry W. Fairfield of Tippecanoe county left Delphi for Fort Benjamin Harrison Indianapolis for training in Hattiesburg Mississippi. Clarence Siple was later reported rejected by the Fort Harrison examining board and sent home. Sheriff Cree Improves After Highway Crash Near Flora
The condition of Sheriff Harry Cree improved after a Tuesday afternoon crash near Flora. Two others, Sherman Deeds and Ernest Gosnell, were seriously injured, while Everett Troop was unhurt. The car left an ice coated road, ripped fence, and Cree was pinned beneath before being freed by Gosnell and Troop. Deeds and Gosnell were hospitalized in Lafayette and Indianapolis was involved in a plan to seek NYA camp admission.

Three Carroll County Residents End Own Lives In Week
Three residents of Carroll county died by suicide during the week. Cloyd Yerkes, 50, a Deer Creek farmer, fired a shotgun into his heart and was found in a barn wagon bed by neighbor John Myler. A note addressed to his wife Ivy Yerkes explained last obligations. He left surviving a wife, two brothers Bruce and Leonard, and two sisters Cora Raker and Mrs. Howard Landis. Funeral services were set for Friday at 10 a.m. at Baker funeral home with Rev. Charles Fife officiating. burial in Paint Creek cemetery.

Coroner ruled death by own action after an X ray showed the bullet in the brain. He is survived by wife Marie Sanders and parents. Funeral held Monday in Flora. In a separate note, Mrs Malinda Hackett 51 near Logansport ended her life with a shotgun at a neighbor’s home. a note and investigation by Coroner M B Stewart followed. Burial in Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery after private funeral rites conducted by Rev Ramsey.
