A Sunday night bonfire near the Masonic building and Walter Clawson's appliance store knocked out 300 telephones downtown. The blaze at a telephone pole base melted the cable and water applied to douse it worsened damage, blowing fuses at the office switchboard. Dr L B Raridan of Greenfield died Tuesday at Methodist hospital in Indianapolis after practicing medicine in Greenfield for 32 years. He and his brother Wilford, longtime Delphi residents, grew up in Delphi and were prominent in the Delphi Baptist church. The family owned a brick property near the Delphi Greenhouse now owned by the Burkhalters. Funeral services were held in Greenfield today. his widow and daughter survive.

The couple will reside south of Del Rio Rice residence.
Great Books Club Seeks Members for Fall Meeting
The Delphi Great Books club invites readers to join its first fall gathering on Tuesday September 16 at the library. Regular meetings occur on the first and third Tuesdays each month. Past leaders include Robert Bradshaw and John E Walker, with active members Mr and Mrs George Revington in Bloomington.
