State warns local ration boards on canning sugar limits
James D. Strickland, state OPA director, cautions county boards not to set fixed maximums on fruit canning sugar per family. He says no national maximum exists and local boards should decide based on family size and local fruit availability, noting one pound sugar per four quarts juice suffices. The aim is to encourage home canning and conserve sugar.
