Delphi High School Football Prospective Squad Meeting News

Berto calls all high school and junior high boys to report to the school armory on Wednesday August 13 at 6 00 p m for a squad meeting physical exam and equipment issue. A physician certificate and parental permission are required for Friday practice. Season opens September 2 with a jamboree at Frankfort featuring Delphi West Lafayette and Lebanon. Louis Kent of Delphi schools in Rochester Minnesota is named Cheer Club member of the week. He is a patient at the Mayo Clinic undergoing surgery and treatment. The Lions urge his students friends and acquaintances to send cards letters and small gifts during the week. O. E. Smith has entered the Monticello nursing home.

Yeoman township to levy no civil tax rate next year

Yeoman in Jefferson township plans to operate with no civil tax rate while residents remain liable for township, county, and state taxes. County funds may allow a general fund rate cut, and about half the county's townships seek rate increases versus decreases. Delphi faces the highest rate around 6.30, up from 6.06, as 1959 proposed rates are shown.

New School Superintendent Arrives in Wayne

Wayne selects Eikenberry of Davenport Iowa to lead the local schools as superintendent. He announces an August 28 teachers breakfast at the Country Club and an all day August 29 institute with county teachers in Delphi. Delphi students return September 2. The faculty is nearly complete with one elementary position open.

Hartke to visit Old Settlers at Carroll County HQ

Democratic candidate Vance Hartke to be honored at a reception during Old Settlers in Carroll County.
