Christopher Columbus Burkholder known as Lum from Carroll County Delphi died suddenly at a niece’s home in Oregon early this week. A 75 year old philanthropist and I O O F member, he planned to visit Oregon and Canada, leaving Delphi two weeks ago. He leaves a Oregon niece and two nephews Abe Burkholder and Charles Burkholder. Remains will be brought to Delphi for interment with Grimm & Son handling services.

The Path Across the Hill a comedy drama in three acts by the Daughters of Isabella at their hall on Monday and Tuesday nights drew liberal patronage under Miss Rose Bennett. The opening night was packed and the second performance only partially filled. The cast included Robert Sieber Robert Coomey Hubert Clifford C J McGreevey Louis Coomey Mary Kempf Alice Turner Bernice Arnot Mary Hefleng Mrs L O Via with specialty numbers by Robert Haugh Raymond Baer Paul Jones Marie Roskuski Mary Hefleng Bernice Arkuski and more. The director Miss Bennett showed unusual talent and persistence prompting strong cooperation from all involved.
About 11 o clock Tuesday a blaze was found in the basement of the Deer Creek school. Four cans of ether wrapped in cloth and placed with a fuse were discovered. only one ignited. Edward Walter and Edward Easter extinguished the fire before it spread. A reward may be offered for information leading to the arsonist.

Ethna Haner of Fort Wayne and Oscar Hasty of Delphi were married by Rev. Eldride in Fort Wayne on Tuesday and immediately moved to Delphi to live with the groom’s parents. Hasty works at the Frank Swatts filling station and the bride has many Fort Wayne friends.
Women on Monroe Street report a Peeping Tom crisis with several at the home of Attorney Gus Hall frightened last Saturday night. Miss Martha Hall saw a man’s features at a window while four ladies, including Miss Hall and Mrs. Downey, were in the front room.
