Hoosier Farmer Degree Given 3

Hoosier Farmer degrees were awarded to Delphi FFA members John Williams Jerry Wagner and John Elston at the Purdue state convention. Delegates Dwaine Ward John Gerard and Jim Riley joined, adviser W S Weaver accompanied. Riley won the state Dairy Achievement contest earning 100 and advances to a regional contest with a possible 200000 prize. Delphi also won a silver emblem in the state chapter contest.

Camden man inducted into armed forces in April draft

Michael D. Hinkle of Camden was inducted and sent to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri for basic training. Mrs Mabel Brewer, clerk of the local draft board, announces the office will close April 11 and 12.

Couple visits patient at Soldiers' Home hospital

Mr and Mrs Sylvester Robin son visited Saturday at the Soldiers Home hospital in Lafayette with Mrs Mina Tansey who has been ill after suffering three heart attacks in the last week at the home where she is employed. She was brought to her apartment here on Wednesday.

Sieber and Overholser to Lead Carroll County Mental Health Drive

Robert L. Sieber the Delphi postmaster and Dean Overholser an attorney will head the annual Carroll county mental health fund drive in May. Mrs. John T. Kirkpatrick of Delphi president of the county chapter announced the appointments. Sieber has served as Delphi Chamber of Commerce president and GOP county chairman and once ran the Chrysler Plymouth agency. Overholser works with attorney George Obear in law practice and sits on the Delphi Chamber of Commerce board and the local American Legion.

Indianapolis speaker to address Delphi church event

Al Abbems of Indianapolis will speak at Delphi Presbyterian Church on Sunday April 14 at 6 30 sponsored by the Presbyterian Youth Club. Abbems ranked among the top three salespeople in the United States and heads the Dale Carnegie Sales Training Course in Indiana. He is a nationwide speaker and a student of religion. A social hour will follow the program.

Union Service at Delphi church on Good Friday

Good Friday services are set for April 19 from 1 to 2 p m at the Delphi Christian church. Rev Joseph Radabaugh will speak as part of a union service with participating Baptist Christian Church of the Brethren Lutheran Methodist Pilgrim Holiness and Presbyterian churches.

Flood Waters Recede After Major County Flood Threat

Heavy rains swelled Carroll county streams and the Wabash river to over 29 feet, forcing the Cox family from their West Delphi home and prompting Effie Davis to be ferried by boat due to illness. Lowlands north and west of Delphi flooded, routes along the river were rerouted, and one boat evacuation occurred.

Delphi P TA Fish Fry Draws 500 Attendees

More than 500 people attended the Delphi armory fish fry Saturday night sponsored by the local P TA. About $250 was raised to support the local school. Committee members thanked contributors and the public for the success.

Drowned Purdue Student Believed Lost in Wildcat Creek

Geoffrey Armstrong a Purdue senior from Deerfield Illinois remains missing after a canoeing accident on Wildcat Creek. Rescue attempts ceased due to hazards with possible reactivation if water recedes. Richard Roseberry survived. Armstrong’s friend and supporters aided by local volunteers using improvised boats. Officers and family pursued search through Sunday with caution advised by Armstrong’s father.
